Paradisus Riviera Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Quick follow up on Mannia:

I've been trading e-mails with Carlos, and just sent him the information that Elisa sent, because it lists insurance requirements, etc.

His response:

"Hello Rebecca,

THIS IS KIND OF CRAZY, the insurance is really high, is too much , they just don´t want you to have another vendor , let me see what can i do about this ,

We keep in touch"

I'll let you know what he comes back with.

actually i think its a sign...i don't really believe in signs, but from the beginning i wasn't IN LOVE with the paradisus so maybe reconsidering isn't the worst thing in the world. thanks for being so supportive...sorry i'm only going to be a visitor on this thread from now, but i'll be sure to keep up with you ladies since i can't wait to hear all about your weddings!!!

Wow Everybody!

I've been away stuffing invitations for 4 days and I missed so much! I laughed and damn near cried reading everyone's responses. Michele, I haven't posted the invitations yet, so please bare with me sorry for the delay. Neen I totally understand how you feel - The DW is just not as inexpensive as it was back in the early 2000s so tell FI, it's going to be expensive no matter what resort you choose. I visited Moon Palace, Azul, Dreams, RIU, EDR, and Occidental Royal Hideaway so if I can forward you any pictures. Or give you any advice don't hesitate to PM me.

So this week a former Paradisus bride Trish was in LA and we had a quick drink, she gave me many dos and don't of the Paradisus. She said overall everything was GREAT but they kinda screwed her on the room block. Come to find out they quoted her a certain price for her group and offered lower prices on their site, so most of her guests booked on the site. Since she didn't fulfill her roomblock requirement they didn't honor her free room.

She was also annoyed by the dine-around dinner reservations. What this basically is leaving the bride in charge to book all of her guest at each restaurant. She said don't do it and to let the guest handle their reservations on their own.

She also shot with Citlalli with Claudia Photo and was very very happy with her.

I have a bunch of questions that I'm sending her tommorrow so I'll get back to you with her answers. Also I sent Elisa a long e-mail of questions today about most of the things we covered here, so hopefully she'll get back to me tommorrow.

Hello Victor, I just noticed that the Paradisus quotes $1250 for your DJ services in their '08 price packet, and you sent me a quote for $1700. What's the difference in price for exactly?

Yes, just found my notes. I've got $1700 for the DJ for 4 hours (which includes all equipment). I've also got $450 for the sound system for 4 hours, but I'm thinking that's for all night... So, maybe the $1250 you have is the DJ, without the sound system, because $1250+$450=$1700

LOL! And what exactly does that mean? He is actually sending me a quote as we speak so hopefully it will be $1250 - that's what it says in the package information that Perla gave me.

I'm hoping to post all my spreadsheets - just waiting on some additional prices from Perla.

In terms of the centerpieces - do you girls know if they are included in the packages? We are thinking the AQUA package (with changes of course!) and I was wondering if they were included?

Also wondering what you guys were doing in terms of appetizers?

Classic. $1250 vs. $1700. Let me know what he comes back with. If it's $1250 he's just about exactly what Mannia would cost (with supervision fees and outside vendor fees).

We are doing the wish package - it covers the basic stuff: symbollic ceremony, gazebo/arch thingy (no flowers on it), music (CD) during the ceremony, white rose bouquet, boutinierre, basic set up for the cocktail party. It also covers 6 chairs on the beach (with plain white covers).

Everything else is an add-on. Chairs are $3 each, cocktail hour food/bar ranges from $18 to $40 pp for the hour - we're customizing our menu and looks like about $32 pp at the moment. Our meals are $70pp. Then we're doing open bar and dancing after for 2-3 hours. We're also doing the terrace with couches in addition to some cocktail tables. Since we're having the dinner in L'Hermitage, we don't need the banquet tables.

All in, when we ran the numbers, we found this to be about $900 cheaper than one of the other (bigger) packages that had things we didn't want, and about $1200 cheaper than doing everything totally ala carte.

We should all totally compare invoices when we get quotes.

Well originally we were going to customize to add lobster but then Perla informed me it was going to $18 more per person in addition to the change fee of $40 (don't ask)! - We are pricing out the Fantasy, Aqua and Custom - It looks like the custom is certainly the most expensive - we are also doing the legal ceremony so that's another 1100 bucks!

I am waiting on Perla and will post! Our dinner is about $80 pp on the Terrace..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
