Glad you started this thread...again. Are any of you girls having a large wedding like 100+ people? Also is anyone hiring an outside wedding coordinator on top of the resort WC's? Thanks for your reviews they are extremely helpful.

Its amazing what you miss when you are busy at work.

Thanks Becks for the Vonage info. .18 a minute isnt bad and I dont see us calling often. Just checked out your site and its great! Love the translation page I can officially be your translator LOL.

Oooohhh you all are really getting me into this steel drum for cocktail hour. I wont mind a single guy walking around for $150 that doesnt seem to bad at all and it wont be so overwhelming more of a nice touch. Can anyone post their contact info (email or website) for me so I can contact them?

I dont remember who mentioned it but the signature drink sounds like a lot of fun. I think guests will get a kick out of it and grab one just to see what it is, then grab more b/c they find them tasty.

LeShay did you ever get around to posting your invites? Im going to search now.

When I was telling FI about all our "discussions" today he informed me that he sometimes thinks I'm cheating with my forum friends. Then we both burst out laughing!

So we talked about the whole cocktails etc. and I am still not sure what to do - we figure after the ceremon people are going to mingle and have some pictures etc. We will probably have champagne but I just can't decide if we want to do appetizers.. or... just have people come back at 5:30 for reception for an hour and then sit down for dinner...

Such a brutal decision but it's hard to say what to do - any other advice? What appetizers are you girls thinking of? (Some look revolting!)smile123.gif

Hhhhmmm I thought the Pinata idea sounded like a lot of fun and you did mention you will be having small kids but I can gaurantee the adults will get in on it also. That will def. take up some time and think of all the fun goodies you can fill it with.

Are you having group shots? I think that will also take up some time if you include all your guests in the photos. Getting that many people to pose for a group picture has to be tough.

We havent picked our food for cocktail hour yet but I know what you mean some of them turn my stomach. I could swear my package said it included cold appetizers only. Great more money from me if I want something hot.

Im going insane right now. I prepared myself to take photos and I cant find the camera. Im about the use my camera phone.

We are planning on doing group photos and then I wanted to have time for FI and I to do our own photos on the beach, the gazebo etc. The package did say cold appetizers but I refuse to have ham and asparagus or anything mousse like. My FI was fake-gagging and it made me sick!

Running out the door to lunch....but I'll comment on everything when I get back....Just wanted to give you all the quotes I got from the steel drummer this morning..

SOLO WITH SOUND SYSTEM

live caribbean steel drums, electric guitar, vocals (me), sound system and the finest reggae, calypso, jazz, soca tracks to rock any occasion! DJ reggae music on breaks.

$450 U.S ' two 50 min sets,

LeShay - is this quote from the folks that Elisa and Perla suggested or did you find them somewhere else? Can you pass on the contact information pleasehuh.gif

I think this is the most reasonable option I've heard so far and it would allow us to have them play for the ceremony and for the cocktail for only $450! God...when did things become "only" $450 sad.gif

I'm liking the pinata idea too...still not sure what we'll do about cocktail hour food...

So being bored at work today I began snooping through other brides resort threads, since Rivera Maya is so close to Cancun may I offer a DJ suggestion? The ladies on the DC thread ( http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t16299) have come across Carlos of Mannia Audio. He has a great price of $750 for 5 hours and is great at responding to emails and all. He offers a really cool lighted dance floor. He was a referral from a photographer I believe, hope this helps. manniacancun@hotmail.com

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
