So..I guess it depends on who you ask!  Ha!!  I guess we might have just made it harder!  I totally agree - they are both really nice resorts!!

I stayed at both Dreams and the Now Sapphire last June for 3 nights each.  Both resorts are abosletly beautiful and the food is equally as good.  You can't go wrong with either.  I decided on the Now Sapphire and my wedding is on June 11, 2011.  The rooms at the Dreams are one of the nicest that I have ever seen.  The rooms are nicer at the Dreams then the Now Sapphire.  I liked the overall hotel at the Now Sapphire better.  The pool area and beach area seemed to be more spread out at the Now Sapphire, which I liked.  I also loved the wedding options and beach area for the Now Sapphire.  Both are beautiful resorts, but I had that "wow" factor when I went to the Now Sapphire.

Good Luck!

Oh, I'm so happy to read your review of the resorts - I feel much better :).  We didn't get an opportunity to do site visits and I have never been to Mexico.  I feel in love with the look of the Dreams resort but it was out of our price range and then we found NOW and I think it looks beautiful too!  So, we went with Now Sapphire and our wedding date is July 29, 2011.  We have picked to have our ceremony on the beach and the cocktail and reception at Tequila terrace.

Hi Ladies,

I'm getting married at the Now Sapphire on June 11, 2011.  Has anyone used the DJ that is included in the Divine Package?  Or has anyone used an outside DJ that you can recommend?

Has anyone used a band or any of the groups that they mention in the wedding book?  Any recommendations??

I am also looking into booking a group tour/excursion for all of my guests.  I would like to do a half a day excursion for about 50 people.  Does anyone have any recommendations for a good excursion or who I can book this through?

^^ The DJ works for AVI-SPL which is actually a big organization. When I contacted Sandra about the DJ, Luis immediately contacted me and was very responsive in his emails in such a short time. He's been with the resort for 5 years but doesn't have pictures, reviews, etc, because the company they work with now is new to him. His previous reviews are from the other company and in his contract he was not allowed to keep that information. I have until next year to decide whether or not we will use him or hire our own. Possibly use him for the cocktail hour only. Even then the divine package is only for 2hrs and we'd still need more hours either way. Extra hours are a tad costly, but they also do the light up dance floor.

Sandra let me know that kids do count as a plate for the package. When I conjured the total for the a la carte and compared prices with Yazmir De La Mora wedding service, it's about the same. Some vendor prices are exactly the same. Sandra has amazing reviews from her former work at Dreams, so I'm uncertain as to whether or not we will use an additional wedding planner.

I can definitely recommend the photography from Now Sapphire. Jhankarlo did my pictures when we were there for a site visit and we're even planning on hiring him for our TTD outside his company (shhhh!) lol. You can go back a few posts and I have my pictures there. Also, we'd have to upgrade our photo package. I'm excited, even though I have had my shares of nightmares that things won't go accordingly lol. Worst comes to worst, I'll book a wedding planner next year lol.

So ladies I did decide on the Now Saphire for my March 2012 wedding.  I have relly appreciated ALL of the great reviews that other girls have posted....they were extremely helpful!

I still have plenty of time to send in my reservation request to Sandra, but I do want to lock in my date so I have to narrow down my ceremony, cocktail an reception locations.

As far as the reception goes, does anyone know if you need to rent a dance floor for the Tequila Terrace because I know the wooden slats might not be good for dancing.  Also, has anyone seen the Beach Terrace decorated for a reception at night with the tables and maybe lighting?

Also, does anyone know that if I choose the highest package, I think it's the Divine package, is there any additional/hidden costs for the reception dinner or is the entire dinner included with the dessert and drinks also?

I know I could just email Sandra with my questions, but I figured you girls might get back to me sooner.  :-)

Any other 2012 Saphire Brides out there??

Thanks!!!

Hi Kim,

We were originally going to go with the dj included in the package, however he was not responding to any of my emails and I was getting frustrated. Apparently his email address had changed. I decided to go with Dj Doremixx. A couple of the girls on here gave him really good reviews and they respond to my emails right away. Swank did eventually get in touch with me but I had already gone with Doremixx. I'll let you know how it goes, I have about a month now!!

Good luck with all of your planning!!

Ivan is fantastic and really made our wedding amazing!! We got a dance floor through him as well which made it even more fun!!

I got the Divine package and no hidden costs as far as food and drink went. There is additional costs for extra bouquets, flowers and decorations.

Our guests did a snorkeling excursion and we just rented 2 whole boats and they really enjoyed it. We used the provider right at the hotel.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
