Hi Girls - I haven't checked in for awhile. I got married at the Paradisus on November 13th, 2009. Friday the 13th! Great date! At any rate, I read through some the last few pages of this forum and wanted to offer my insight.

Someone asked about the beach, though I had also read some negative things, the beach was beautiful. I had no complaints there.

Also for our welcome dinner, we arranged to have it at the Caribbean Marketplace at no cost. Perla had reserved 50 spots and closed off a portion of the restaurant. For those who don't know, the Caribbean Marketplace is the buffet. This suited us and our 50 guests (including children) quite well.

I also agree with appointing someone not in your wedding party to ensure that everything is how you want it. On the day of your wedding, you won't want to be burdened with decor and other arrangements. You'll be too busy drinking champagne and getting ready with your bridal party!

Playa del Carmen is a must do! Lots of great shopping and fun beach bars. Include it among your lists of things to do in Riviera Maya in your welcome letter, email to guests, etc. It's about a 45 minute drive south. You can arrange a shuttle with the Paradisus bellhops.

My review also covers a lot of the questions I'm reading on here. Check it out - links below. I also included some other helpful tips.

Happy Planning!

Brooke

I'm not doing any type of entertainment as it will not fit into my budget. I thought it would be nice to have something at the rehearsal dinner or cocktail hour but just can't bring myself to pay that much for 45 minutes! People will entertain themselves with plenty of booze!

I'm so glad you heard from Cecilia!! I didn't hear about destinationweddings.com either until I got on here and we've already booked our trip.

I may have asked this already but are any of you arranging any excursions for everyone? If so, what and who pays for that? Any suggested vendors to go through? Anything included at the resort? When we stayed at the Paradisus in PC, snorkeling was included!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
