You sound like my FI and I, at first we just wanted it to be just the two of us, but then we knew his Mom would throw a fit not seeing her only child get married, now were expecting about 10-12. Still small but larger then I wanted.

I have never been to that side of Mexico, but who knows what the future will bring. But I can answer most questions about the Riviera Maya excluding specific resort info. Just got back from a trip to Rincon, Puerto Rico also which is my new favorite spot. The lack of services, people, noise, tourists are the reasons that I love it there, but also the reason that getting married there would be more of a challenge than I am up for. Maybe for the second leg of the honeymoon trip though.

Given what you've said about Tulum (my husband has stayed at the same place) and your interest in photography, I am now officially recommending Hacienda San Jose. It's inland, but it's made for your tastes. There are 30 to 40 spots on the property that would be perfect for a private wedding (including in front of this amazing tree that is all twisted and textured). I'll see if I can get photos from my husband.

Welcome! I vote for Excellence Riviera Maya as well. We chose this location because it had consistenly good reviews on the tripadvisor.com, 10 bars, 8 restaurants, beautiful grounds, swim-up suites. It just looks perfect and I am really picky about everything.

As far as photographer goes, I would like to recommend my FI - he hasn't done any DW photography but he is excellent and he is willing to offer a good package in order to create his DW portfolio. His website - Studio Contempo

We chose Sol Tamargo as our photographer. We love modern/contemporary photography and her work is mind blowing.

Good luck with all the planning!

Welcome to the board Jason! Love it when I see the guys on the board. The photographers on the board are great and I am sure they are all willing to work with you so that your pictures will reflect your artistic personality. Good luck with all the planning!

Welcome to the forum Jason- it's looks like you're pretty on top of things. I'm so jealous that you're eloping with just the two of you- I told my FI yesterday that I'm really wishing we would have done this.

I'm sorry to hear Oasis Playa in Cancun has raised their prices- I loved that resort when I was there two years ago, we totally had a blast!

Good luck with the rest of your planning, let us know how we can help. I'm a Cabo bride, so I don't have a lot of info on the areas you're looking at, but others on here do!

Do you know if anyone has ever used the El Dorado Royale Photographer they have assigned to their wedding packages?

I too plan on getting married this year, but in the fall. Im not sure if it will be just me and me soon to be husband or if we want to invite our close friends and family.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
