January - April 2008: Low or High Season

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

We're targeting Cabo for our 2008 wedding but we haven't decided on a specific month yet. does anyone know if there is a drastic price difference in flights and hotel $$ between the months of Feb/March/April? We don't really want to wait until April and would prefer a Feb/March wedding but if the prices are cheaper then we'll think about waiting until April?

Also, is there anyone who frequents Cabo often that can shed some light on which months are better weather wise? We went in January of 2006 and the sun didn't shine for 7 days and it was FREEZING. We were told that that wasn't the norm so I'm wondering...is there really a big difference in weather between Feb/March/April?

Thanks again for the quick responses smile159.gif

What is the best method for finding out rates and information for venues once I've narrowed it down to a few? Am I better off working directly with the hotel and asking them what dates they have available and what rates they can provide based on those dates? or would I be better off working with a travel agency?

Unfortunately, I was thinking of $250/night average rate but my FI was thinking more along the lines of $200/night average for our guests. From your experience, do you know what hotels in Cabo run these type of rates in April timeframe? My thoughts are that the type of hotel that would put on a nice wedding would be more $$ than $200/night and if we base our entire wedding on $200/night for our guest then our wedding is going to have to be at a 'less' nicer hotel. Am I way off base here?

Just an FYI, I'm staying at Villa Del Palmar while I'm in Cabo (we purchased a timeshare there) but our ceremony and wedding dinner will be at the Sheraton (were also staying at the sheraton for our wedding night) It was only 300.00 to set up the ceremony on the beach.

There isn't much of a price difference from Feb to April... April is about $100 or so more, depending on the hotel or unless you can get some discounted rates. The weather in Feb has highs around low to mid 70's with lows in the lower 60's. April highs are high 70's to mid 80's, with lows in the upper 60's. I would suggest going late April as well, if you can wait that long. :) It would be warmer for you and you would be out of the way of spring breakers, as well as vacationers. In my mind, kids will be finishing school in May, so parents wouldn't take their children on a vacation during finals and last month studies. Good luck!

There is very little price difference between Feb/March/April...they're all considered high season.

BUT...nearly all universities have their spring breaks between the last week of February and the last week of March, and Cabo gets completely taken over by college students. Take it from me, I just graduated from a few months ago, and we went to Cabo twice, both times in March.

Hotels (not really the luxury hotels though) will be extremely crowded, and your guests will find themselves in the middle of a HUGE party if they want to go out to dinner or just out for a beer, mostly in downtown Cabo San Lucas. For San Jose Del Cabo, this is almost irrelevant.

Hope this helps!

thanks girls. Does anyone know when high school spring break is? I want to ensure all spring break (college and high school) is over with before we have our wedding. I think my grandparents would have a heart attach otherwise :)

We were targeting April 26 or May 3 of 2008 but if spring break ends then I would like to marry earlier in the month of April (like 2nd week or so).

thx

you are pretty safe after april 15th. PB sunset, PB rose all have rates around $175-200 per night range. I think they are a really good value for what you get for your $$. there are a few PB brides getting married this year.

Oh my...I am cracking up right now...thinking what do we have in store for us! Oh well...nothing I can do about it. We are getting married on Good Friday...right in the middle of spring break. When we chose the date we knew it was around Easter but we didn't want to wait any longer. This engagement seems so long to us as it is.

I'll have to let you guys know how it goes!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
