I'm going to scream or cry or both!

They should call up the new couple and ask them to change their time, you had reserved it months before and this new couple did it on-line recently. The resort should take full responsibility for the previous WC's action.

I am irate for you. I hope they abide by the $35 pp rate if not I hope they negotiate in giving you more for your money.

How many guests did you send the invites too? Is staying there but having wedding/reception elsewhere nearby an option you would consider?

Yeah I called just to be on the safe side bc Ive been dealing with WC Miguelina. And she sent me an email confirming my date but yet when TA called, they told her a different date (which was my original date)....so I got nervous. When I called she said "ok I put it on the calendar"...HELLO? She shouldve done that weeks ago when she sent me the confirmation email. I will call her again in a month and re-confirm.

I've have gone through every single e-mail, too bad I don't have transcripts of the phone conversations--silly me didn't think I'd need them!

There is no specific yes/no from either coordinator in any of the e-mails though there was verbal confirmation. She took everything over the phone. However, I make reference to the wedding date and time in every single e-mail. They all say This is Erin, CSA, June21, 4:00 pm. I feel like at some point if my reservation was not there she could have said, hey I don't have you in that time slot on that day, etc.

And, I talked to her on the phone yesterday to confirm. That was the first time she EVER mentioned I was not on the schedule. SO I re-submitted all info and my credit card number. So she had the info yesterday. But I guess she tried to charge it today and had a problem with the number and while all of this was taking place, the other couple took my spot!

You poor thing! This situation is unacceptable!! If I were you I would be on the phone to the WC's supervisor and following it up with a letter to the general manager or CEO of Couples. These people should be kissing your ass right now not blaming you for their mistakes. It is not your resposibility to make sure these people are doing their jobs. The tens of thousands that you are dropping at the resort should insure a quality job is done. Do not settle for anything less than what you contracted for including the wedding date, time, and price per person. Keep on going up the supervisory chain until you get what you want and then get it on paper. Believe me..the squeaky wheel does get the oil. You may want to let the WC or manager know that you are a member of a DW message board that influences bridal couples all over the world. Good luck!

I would also like to caution to keep meticulous copies of all payments if you booked directly with Couples.

They have a fantastic resort, beautiful location and the onsite staff is fantastic but....their internal accounting leaves a bit to be desired and I will only book them through certain tour operators so that I know my clients will not encounter any accounting headaches. I booked directly once as they had pricing available earlier than my suppliers and my couple was anxious (yes, it was a DW!). The sister & her husband was going and they charge her debit card- 2X as much! When I called in to get it fixed they charged again-2X as much. caused all sorts of havoc with the accounts, they didn't want to take responsibility and wouldn't even offer an apology. I was flipping-the couple were even more so as there was over $400 in overdraft fees> After hours and hours on the phone all the way up the chain of command I got it fixed, plus the fees and a letter of apology and a $100 spa credit for both her & her sister

I hate to hear that the other WC is gone- she was fantastic and really took care of her brides!

As I said- I love the resort and wouldn't hesitate booking a bride there (i've booked many weddings/vow renewals with Couples) but I just know to use a supplier as opposed to going direct!

Good Luck and I really hope it all works out!

TA Jennifer

I am sooo sorry this is happening to you! I definitly think that since you referenced your date/time in every email they should've caught that - and wasn't it a red flag to them that you had them block rooms for you? OMG I am mad for you! Now I understand why you had that bottle of wine for dinner girl! I hope it gets better soon......

Small update...

They "found" our room reservations. But you have to schedule weddings and rooms separately. I went through and printed all e-mail correspondence and typed a "speech" with points I want to bring up. I just couldn't handle anything today because I was so mad I was shaking!

The on-site coordinator is still there, Tamekia, I'm dealing with the state-side coordinator, Debbie.

I plan to give her supervisor/director of customer relations/president, the highest person I can find on the totem pole and get this resolved tomorrow! My wedding is 4 months from today!

We aren't booked through them directly Tammy, we are going through my travel agent who used Northwest Vacations. I have issues with them too but none as huge as this! I was going to PM you to see if you had any particular advice or contact person.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
