Song to walk down the aisle

Recommended Posts

Ok like most brides I think about the little details instead of the more important stuff like setting a date. LOL. I really want to walk down to Israle Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere over the rainbow". It's from the 50 first dates soundtrack. It has a beachy feel to it. I was curious as to what music you guys are playing when you walk down/or you played when you walked down the aisle.

I am walking to "Unsingable Name" by Mike Doughty. Love it.

This actually brings up a question I have. How do you get the song played? The Dj isn't starting until after cocktail hour so I don't think there will be speakers set up for the ceremony. How does this work?

Currently, it's Never Felt this Way by Brian McKnight.

Selecting songs has been an ongoing project. I keep changing my mind. FI wants to enter on a "special" song as well... Anyone's FI want a song other than what you had in mind?

My song was O Sole Mio - it sounded beautiful when played by our trio.

My husband's family is from the Neopolitan villiage (or near it) where the song took root in the late 1800s so it was a nod to his ancestry. Here are the words (note - it is NOTHING like Elvis Presley's version) although ours was acoustical...

’O SOLE MIO (Translation)

What a beautiful thing is a sunny day,

A gentle breeze after the storm!

Through the fresh air already appears a feast.

What a beautiful thing is a sunny day!

Refrain:

But another, lovelier sun doesn’t exist.

My sun is your face.

The sun, my sun,

Is your face, is your face.

There’s a light in the panes of your window.

A laundress sings and boasts.

While she wrings and spreads and sings,

There’s a light in the panes of your window.

Refrain

When night is falling and the sun is setting,

A feeling almost like melancholy overcomes me.

I would stop under your window,

When night is falling and the sun is setting.

I love that version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." The ukulele inspired me to plan my wedding in Hawaii...at the beginning. But, alas, it was too expensive for our guests. embarrest.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
