Amanda, ok I am officially inviting you to my wedding so you have an excuse to go but under the condition that you have to get your photos taken! wink.gif

Regardless, I think you need to do it- think if it as preventing years of therapy in the future! wink.gif

LOL...thanks Stephanie!!!

The trip is not the issue...we are definitely doing Mexico in January or February! It's just a matter of if we'll get a TTD done. I'm pretty sure we will though! I will let DH know that the $800 we would spend on a photographer is nothing compared to the therapy bills I may need if we don't do it!! LOL

I totally agree that you should spend whatever you want on a photographer. Your pictures are the only thing that you will have other than your memories for the day. My future SIL didn't get a good photog and now she totally regrets it. On the other hand, my other future SIL did spend the money to get an awesome photog and she has beautiful pictures.

confession- my parents dont know yet that we booked photogs.. im scared to tell them because they will think im stupid because they think that its not important (photography) but i see it otherwise and booked them anyway... my parents are paying for the whole wedding but not the photogs.. lol
Jax, I definitely think you did the right thing by hiring a pro. I bet your parents will give you a hard time, until they see the difference between the pics your guests take (who will probably be drunk by the end of the night lol) and the pics your pro takes. It'll be worth it!

We had DHs uncle...he has a great camera, but I should have known. He's a pretty boring monotonous person, so I should have realized he would not be a creative photographer. The weather was crap too, which I think hindered our photography...we didn't go to the beach, or the clifftop like planned. The time that we would have spent on photography in between the ceremony & dinner was spent hanging out at the bar.
I did get a few good pics out of it....but overall it was just a huge disappointment.
Amanda, the weather had to put a huge damper on things. I'm sorry you're still so upset about the pics. That really stinks!

This is fantastic reasoning! Hey, you are going to another dw right? If you can get her to pick sometime near January 10th, I'll go back for an anniversary trip and do ttd pics with you! We can get our dh's some beers and convince them its a good idea! I like my ttd pics already, but doing another one would be fun. :)

Amanda - I hear you about the "crappy vacation". Although I had a blast at my wedding and the weather was generally agreeable, I was sick...SICK for the entire second week of my vacation (which was when I should have been relaxing since the first week was a write off because of all the running around before the wedding). I caught the absolute worst, hands down, cold of my life in Mexico...on my vacation. I am still extremely bitter about that (though it was beyond anyone's control I suppose). The fun didn't stop there either, DH got sick a few days after me and then we were both sick for a good 4 weeks after we got home from vacation. It was totally miserable. I was so congested on the plane ride home that my ears wouldn't pop when we were landing, it hurt like a bitch...now I know why kids scream their heads off lol. sad.gif Regardless, I hear ya sister! *HUGS*

As for your friends, I assume you guys are going to el paso? Just tell them to screw off. If the can't make the time to come than you don't want them there anyway. I am so corny and always say every party loves a pooper and thats why we invited you!
I thought I was the only NM bride too. Glad I found you! And it is EP. Those two don't dance...so they are happy with us hanging out at a laid back bar like Hurricane (don't know if you have heard about that place). It's cool and all, but not for my bachelorette party! I'm going all out. I plan on only doing this once. By any chance do you know of any boudoir photographers in NM?

Lisa-I'll save you a seat!

They are going the beginning of February...could you hold off until then??

DH thinks its a complete waste of $$ to hire a pro for "wedding" pictures a year after the wedding when no one else will even be there. He wants to do 2 weeks vacation instead. It's just a constant struggle to make him understand how important this is to me - but I don't want to sacrifice a weeks vacation for it either!!! He said if I could come up with the money then we could do it...I might have to get a second job!!
Maybe if we book a TTD together it would be cheaper!!! Are you serious?? If not, then when I get the final dates I'm going to look around to see who is getting married in the area the same time - maybe they will want to split a TTD shoot? Can that even be done?? Will it be half the cost?? Hmmmmm....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
