Our friends have mentioned that they don't like the beach
FH's mother asked us why Mexico, people keep getting killed there
my GF and her FH say Mexico sucks (never been, as far as I know)

All in all, I get lots of "don't go theres" and no "this place is great", well my dad did mention how amazing the GBP Akumel was, but his DGF likes to go to new resorts each time she goes away!

So yeah, all I want to do is tell these people to stuff a sock in it, but in reality all I'm doing is stressing out more and more!!!
At the end of the day it's your wedding. Where do you want to go? (You and FH of course?) If you guys wanna get married on Mars so be it. Whoever doesn't like it, too bad.

I HATE MY BOSS and Employer!!

I used to be on salary (awesome benefits, awesome pension, sick days, year end $1000+ bonus, wage increase, important tasks assigned to me, vacation days, etc)

I was laid off January 2009 due to the economy, even though I was performing better than some others, worked my way up the company in 4 years, took initiative to improve myself more than others, was in charge of developing a software program with the developers from South Africa and Australia. Another girl who started after me, and was just a little lower than me with job assignments, who was let go once before, then brought back, WAS NOT LET GO when the economy cuts came.

I got hired back on contract with a lower pay and absolutely no benefits 3 months later. I do the EXACT same work as before and have the EXACT same knowledge as before, but now get less than someone who has been there shorter than me, and someone who does not even 1/2 of what I do.

Instead of being paid by my employer now, he decides to put me through a placement agency who gives a paper check instead of direct deposit.

I didn't deposit my pay check in time and now have a $42 NSF fee because my mortgage payment couldn't come out!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so tired of being treated differently than others when I do the EXACT same thing as them if not MORE! It's been a year and a half and I still can't get over it. It caused me so many problems in my life (depression, motivation, anxiety) that my therapist got me a sick note to take a leave of absence from work (which I never used).

I'm so tired of feeling this way but don't know how to get over it

Thanks to anyone who read the whole thing and listened! xxoo

i'm sorry you're going through this, and I can tell you that you aren't the only one.

I was laid off in March 2009 from a similar situation - been there 5 years - great ratings and reviews, etc...they kept people who hadn't been there as long and weren't doing as well.

and even though it's been over a year, I'm still not completely over the hurt that they let me go, even though i "know" in my head I should be, I'm better off, all those things. And, i know the others that got laid off with me feel the same way.

Fast forward a year and now they are calling me to come back as a contractor - same as you - getting paid less, hourly, and no benefits.

I've declined.

Getting laid off is a major life event - many people do get very depressed, anxious - all the feelings you describe are very normal - and it's good that you have a therapist to talk about these things.

Is there any way you can look for another job while you're working? I'm working hourly somewhere else now - taking the knowledge I got at the original company and using it to help another. Is it the great job I used to have - no - but it's a job, and I work here till I can get something better - maybe if you think of it as using your ex-employer to get to where you need to be next.

Good luck!smile03.gif

I cannot stand my FI's mother. She does not have the ability to be nice to anyone. She carries around her oxygen tank yelling at anyone who crosses her path.

serenity: she just called and said she cannot make the wedding because of the heat and her inability to breathe in the tropics......

you can call my mum, she'll tell you. She's been amazing through this whole process with me, in fact I think she's more excited about going away than I am right now!
I was amazed at how many people will decide to rain on your parade! It's terrible!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
