I had the Sims for Game Cube and was addicted!!! I haven't played in about 3 yrs though. And I played VV too!! I'm now playing another online game - Travian. It's a build & conquer type game. It can be a bit slow...but it keeps me from working all day long! LOL

Amanda, I will try and explain this without making myself sound like a bigger dork! wink.gif

WoW (World of Warcraft) is a computer game that interacts with other players. Its a fantasy world that you create a character, either horde or alliance (horde characters are undead, blood elves, taurens, orcs, or trolls and alliance are night elves, humans, gnomes, dwarves or draenei) and you pick a class (like Priest, warrior, knight, druid, hunter, mage, paladin, rogue, shaman or warlock) and you pick a few professions (like enchanting, alchemy, blacksmithing, jewelcrafting, engineering, herbelism, tailoring, mining, skinning, leatherworking, fishing, cooking, first aid) and through qwests and stuff you gain levels and experience. You can fight dragons and stuff like that. That of course is super condenced version, its actually very fun and very addicting. For me the addiction came because you make so many friends and its fun to log on and chat and play with those people.

Ok, I just read that back, I'll wear the dork crown today! *blushing*

Amanda - Stephanie pretty much summed it up. World of Warcraft (WoW), Ever Quest (EQ), and Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) are all Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) where you can level up characters, take up crafts, and basically interact online with millions of other dorks haha wink.gif Sometimes it felt like a giant chat room but more fun because you actually get to work towards in-game goals such as gear and levels and stuff. Ok, guess I'll share Steph's dork crown for today haha wink.gif

Thanks Stephanie!! I had never heard of it!! I play Travian...which is kind of similar I guess! It's more based on old times though...you start with one village & then you build troops & resources & buildings...you can raid/attack/conquer other villages....join an alliance...build settlers to build more villages. It's fun & addicting!!

I guess I get a dork crown too!! LOL

Here is my random confession that has nothing to do with games :) My FI was married & divorced right out of college. His wife cheated on him and left after 1 year and was super materialistic. for their wedding, she requested his parents pay over 10 thousand dollars and they went on a honeymoon for like 14 days in St. Lucia.

Needless to say, his parents (mom specifically) absolutely love me. They are so thrilled that I'm nothing like her and she tells me all the time how thankful she is that I've turned his life around. But, when it came time for our wedding they offered nothing. his previous honeymoon was over 6K!! My parents are paying for everything (including our flights) and they refuse to give the $1900 for our little 5 day honeymoon, because of his previous marriage. They even told him it has nothing to do with money, and they know it's not my fault...but "it is what it is".

I know I shouldn't care- but for some reason I take it personally! Maybe it's because I've given my FI over 5K to pay off his debt (caused by his ex wife) and helped him get back on his feet. He's in the process of paying me back....but why is it that the super bitchy materialistic girl gets 10 thousand, and the girl who bails him out gets nothing!!!!

It's my "confession" because I know I sound spoiled and bitchy if I were to say anything to his parents, and i had to tell someone!!!!!

Josie, I know it's a hard place to be in that situation. My FI was also previously married but for about 7 years and has two kids out of it. This is my first marriage and my parents are pretty much paying for everything. We have not even discussed or brought up his mom or family paying for anything but their trips to Mexico. I know it's not fair but the family already paid whatever they did the first time around. Unfortunetly that didn't work out but they should not have to turn around and pay again. If FI family does anything for us I'll be grateful for it but if not I'm okay with that as well. It's sort of part of the package since we're getting married to people who have been married previously. With that being said I understand where you're coming from but you have to see it from their point of view as well.

I'm not sure that I earn a crown BUT I actually teach and do research about this stuff. I teach a Mass Communications course and we discuss MMORPGs, video games and what not, from why people use them all the way to their effect on society and individuals. I've also been involved in research projects looking at video games and violence, currently I'm working with designers to develop a video game. This will depend on a grant we're applying for but it should be pretty cool. Oh, and FI used to work for LOTRO as a tester.

My confession ~ I freakin love it, who else gets paid to talk about video games? :)

I'm in the same boat and I go back and forth with my feelings. On the one hand, why am I being "punished" on the other, they've done this before and got burned. My other problem is his mom and step dad are retired and his dad and step mom just don't have a lot of money. So I feel guilty b/c I make more money then they do. But... he is an only child. Ahh... the push/pull feelings are crazy!

My DH used to play WOW, nonstop! At times it was a big issue in our realtionship. We're talking sreaming matches and tears. Not good. Well, his computer died and I won't let him spend $5000 on a new Alienware, Voodoo, or whatever the thing was called, so he isn't playing.

Yeah, I used to bitch because he wasn't around enough but now he's around too much! I really have to have my own personal down time and quiet everyday and now we're together all the time! LOL He's making me a little crazy!

Tracey - if you need a test subject, let me know! LOL

Yael- I did see that Southpark- soooo funny! My FI is addicted to those first-person shooter games like Halo and I get soo pissed at him when he starts yelling at the game and stuff- sounds like a damn warzone in my house!

Erin- that's so funny! Because to play that game you have to have a high end computer and/or graphics card so I bet he is pissed! I can totally relate because my ex played long before I ever started to and I would get so angry that I couldn't get him off the damn computer. Then I started playing... yay, nothing got done in our house.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
