The best way for you to overcome your intimidation is to book a few sessions with a personal trainer who will be able to show you what you should be doing in the weight room. With a little education on proper technique, you will be confident in no time. Some gyms even offer free one-on-one or group orientations sessions to help people become more more comfortable with the equipment or with weights. Ask at the front desk at your gym and see what they offer!
