My fiancee and I are looking into having our wedding in the Destin area. I've been looking for sites to have a beach wedding and places to have a reception online, but I wanted to see if I could get some input from you guys on where we should look. Thanks!

I just found those online. But I have been to Destin and it is ssoo gorgeous. Do you live nearby? If so I would scout out the area and the beaches and find your dream location. I think a perfect setting would be a private beachfront house that you rent for a few nights and have the ceremony on the beach and reception right there at the house.

Hey what a great location. I actually live nearby the Destin beaches along Okaloosa island. Have you been here before? Tourist season is approaching fast so if you’re going to come for a site visit, I would recommend before May. June through September is crazy, I avoid the public beaches and stick to the private ones.

Have you looked into the wedding package that the Sheraton offers on Okaloosa island. Friends of ours were married on the beach there and it was amazing! They have such a great set up.

Also what about photographers? I know of a local photographer who is priced really reasonably (aprox $450 for the whole day with all digital negatives). I can find out her contact info if you would like. 2 of our close friends used her for their weddings and she did a wonderful job. Then there’s a Destin photographer by the name of Gwyne who is a BDW member too. I would check her out.

Let me know if you need any more info. I’d love to help.

Wow! Thanks for all the good advise. We just got engaged about a month ago, so we're just starting out with all of the wedding planing. We live in Gainesville, FL right now, which is about 4 1/2 hours away. We've been to the area before and absolutelyl ove it which is why we chose it as the location for our wedding. I'm going to look into the Sheraton on Okaloosa Island. Having a back-up ceremony and reception location is pretty important to us in case it rains.

Thanks!

hijacked.gif This has nothing to do with Destin advice, but I am actually from Gainesville! Its rare I meet somewhere who even knows where Gainesville is! I always have to mention something about UF, lol.

Ok, good luck & happy planning

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
