My Second Site Visit Review

Recommended Posts

I came back more than a week ago but had tons of work and such a bad flu, but here is it finally, is kind of long ok? ...

- Friday

We arrived like 9:30 our flight was delayed like 25 min so we ended picking the rental car at 10:00, but was one of the best things to do because we had so much freedom and flexibility to move.

We were supposed to see the Music Band (ENLACE) but they were playing on Friday and Saturday only at the Vallarta Palace and they wouldnâ€t let us in so we checked in at NH Krystal Vallarta and headed downtown to meet with some friends.

If you like Tacos al Pastor or Tacos de Trompo, please try Pepe Tacos there are across the street (side street) of the Gas Station at the Downtown Area, wow even I am Mexican and coming from Monterrey a City with a bunch of good taco restaurants, let me tell you those were really good, and the good news they are open from 6 pm to 6 am!!!

We were supposed to have dinner at De Santos but Jorge was starving and he couldnâ€t resist to Pepe's... LOL. So we had tacos and then we went to have some drinks at the DeSantos .. I really like their restaurant area, loved their decor and soft lighting, the service was really good and the prices were average. My friend had a salad and said it was really good the rest of us just had drinks...

We stayed at the NH Krystal which is kind of old, they did some renovations but the main pool and service at the pool and food need more than that. They gave us rooms at the Tower 9 which is the newest part of the hotel and in front of the beach which was nice, but walking from the reception at nights on heels was not so nice. They have carts during the day to move the guests but late night you have to walk... so be prepared!

They provide continental breakfast and snacks on the afternoon as well as red wine for the Tower guests only... we tried some quesadillas and some bbq wings... they were just ok.

Saturday

Morning we meet with Selma the Group and Conventions Manager for the Velas Vallarta, she is such a nice lady she invited us to have breakfast and was very good , and when we came from the buffet bar to our table she order some mimosas to toast , was a really nice touch.

The hotel is very nice, the pool area is huge and they have like connecting rivers, there is a calm and quite area and the party area. The rooms are very nice and the suites are HUGE!!!

All of their rooms have kitchenettes and fridges with beer, water, sodas, juices, yogurt, butter, jams, milk and there is also like a cabinet with oatmeal, cereal, peanuts, chips, crackers , coffee, tea and bread. They replenish everyday whatever you used and is included.

We did the tour of the hotel, and she offered us to come back on Sunday to stay the afternoon at the hotel. So we went back to our Hotel because we were tired, we changed and headed to the beach.

At 5 pm we went to the Church at the Marina to check on the music and decor of a wedding that Prisar was coordinating ... and I have to say again I am love with the Church, is so beautiful and looked so nice decorated... I like the Music too ... so we have one more item checked in our things to do.

We went to have dinner at La Dolce Vita, and was so good!!! the service was awesome and the food was delicious!!! the tuna carpaccio , the pasta and the calamari were incredible.. as well as the wine.. so with our stomachs ready and full we moved to the Mayan to check on the wedding that Prisar was coordinating and I just can say: BREATH TAKING!!! it was so exciting to see our venue at night, decorated, lighted, the jetty with hundreds of candles in their bags... I cant say enough good things about how it looked!!!

I wanted to take some pics but I didnâ€t want to interrupt , so I resisted really hard not to... I am sorry BDW pals. We arrived at the dinner time, the food look really good... they offered some drinks while we were seating at the sunset bar and we saw the fireworks and have to say I got teary eye ... I was so excited....

At 12:00 am we move out from the Mayan and went back to the malecon area again, we meet our friends at the Mandala, a new place just opened. It was fun, the music was perfect and we had great time.

Sunday

We had our appt for tasting with Priscila and the Mayan Crew: Ruben, Nayeli and the Chef. We tasted 2 different choices for appetizer, main dish and dessert. We felt in love with the shrimp and mango salad for appetizer and the chocolate duo with vanilla sauce for dessert. We are still deciding over the main dish, but I have to tell you the flavor, presentation, setting was very nice and we loooooveee it.... the Chef is very accommodating he took notes and pics of all what we wanted and said.

After eating a lot, we went back to the Velas Vallarta to spend the afternoon, they gave us one complimentary room and all inclusive for that day, we spent the afternoon at the pool and beach having drinks and then at night we went to the Mexican Night, the food was AMAZING and the Margaritas specially the Tamarind one were delicious.

After a short but very good trip we were back to the airport at 10:00 pm , we found out that our flight was delayed 2 hours so ... we ended getting home at 2:30 am that night!!! but for 50 dlls each and a very productive trip I was more than happy.. Tired but Really happy!

LOL hope you got here and still awake!!! LOL

Great review Edna! I've been to Velas and I agree that the rooms are huge and nicely decorated, and the pool/rivers are awesome! I could lose a day just floating around...I almost did :P

Sounds like you had a fun and productive trip. Next time I'm in PV I'll have to check out the taco spot and Mandala.

Thanks so much Edna!!! This PV review is great, I am getting really exited about our weddings there it's going to look so beautiful.

Dont worry about the pics...I can just imagine the jetty with all the candles, and the fireworks...omg I can't wait.

I have a question? what this wedding at the mayan a small or large wedding? I just want to get an idea of how mine is going to look like since I am having about 50 guest only.

Thanks again for the great review.

Hi Verenicce,
the wedding I went was for a 100 guests, I counted 10 tables but dont worry I think Christine's Wedding was smaller and they use like long tables instead and looked wonderful, have you checked her pics and the ones at Prisar Webpage?

And regarding pics, I just saw because Amy said that Prisar posted a new wedding, well that wedding I went!!! it was from Lindsay and Juan.. so you can check the Jetty lighted and part of the decor!

You have to try them, have one order of Tacos al Pastor with cilantro, onion and pinnaple, then you squeeze limon ( the green ones! LOL) and salsa verde over the taco... and you are ready to go!!!! YUMMY!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
