SMALL wedding...

Recommended Posts

I'm in the same boat, we have 10 people and are getting married at 4pm. I'm going to get a band for an hour or 2 and do a semi-private dinner. I figure after that, we'll just chill and have drinks and go to the disco later. I was hoping the beach party was that night, but it's not. Oh well! Bonfire sounds like a good idea if it's possible to set one up though!

not at all! I have a pretty casual dress. i didn't want to be running around the hotel in a big gown if I wasn't having a private deal. I plan on just removing my veil & being just a slightly more dressed up hotel guest.

If you don't feel comfortable, you can always change into a more casual white dress.

I'm glad to hear more people are not planning their own reception. It's really not in my budget. I also know we can have a blast without it. I'm hoping we can just find a less crowded area of the hotel to hang out at. Hopefully that area has karaoke :)

We're having a small wedding as well - 17 guests (4 1/2 weeks to go!!) We're getting married at four, then have hired a steel drum band for an hour and have ordered champagne and O'rderves (sp?:)

to be served on the beach. then pics, then dinner at 6:00pm. We will then head to the disco from 8-10pm. Then just do whatever from then on!

Whatever you decide will be perfect! And if you get the upgrade to the suite-drinks at your place will be perfect!

This is what I'm doing too. I have about 25 guests coming but my ceremony is at 11am, lunch "reception" at noon, then FI and I are going to do our TTD pics and tell everyone they can meet us later that night for drinks or at the disco if they want.

Thanks everyone for your advice!! It makes me feel more comfortable with just having people back to our suite for drinks, then going to the disco later. I was just so worried that our guests would expect more... but then again it has been me reading these forums, not them! It is so nice to hear so many other destination brides with small groups! I think I am definitely leaning this direction now seeing as our budget is already tight as it is (we are having a formal reception when we get home, and have to pay for this as well!!). Thanks again for all the help!

Mine is at 4. Wedding 4-4:30, guests can hang out while we take pictures. There is a place that serves ice cream that I thought they'd enjoy at this time. Then dinner 6ish. Afterwards we'll just do whatever seems fun. We'll probably figure out the night before what bar/ activity we'd want to do. I'd enjoy just sitting by the pool or beach drinking a beer & talking to everyone. I think that's a great thing about a small group. You don't really need structure. I also don't want to stay up all night. Otherwise I know I'd pass out as soon as I hit the bed. So we'll probably head to our room around 8-9.

AFter dinner I was thinking of going to the beach party they have every friday night. I think that would be a great thing to do to get the full Jamaican experience! Atleast that is what Holly's sister did after her wedding (I love The Girls Next Door!) lol!

And if we want to go to the Disco later we can, or whatever!
so that party at holly's sister's wedding wasn't just for her wedding? definitly do that. it looked amazing. I was thinking they really put together an extravagant party for her wedding. Now I know that was just a typical friday night.

who doesn't want a booty shaking contest at their wedding? seriously, their party looked like a blast.

are you getting married at the same hotel? I would request rory (was that his name) the butler to be the one that married me. He was awesome.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
