Hello Fello Riu Brides,

I have been reading reviews about Rui and alot of the couples are saying that their rooms were broken into when they were there for their weddings. Has anyone else heard this or had this happen to them. This is a major issue for me!!!!!!!!!!!

When traveling anywhere you should be careful with your valuables and if there's anything I've learned from those reviews.. do not use the hotel safes.. my suggestion is to bring a luggage lock and place your valuables in an empty suitcase with your other empty luggage.

Theft does and can happen anywhere.

When you travel, you always take a chance on theft. Like Angela said, you just need to be careful and use some common sense with your valuables. I'm sending a letter to all of my guests about a month before the wedding. It will contain what documents they need to bring, what to expect at the airport, etc. I'm also going to suggest they leave crazy expensive things at home.

Be sure you check with the resort before traveling what their policy is on theft. You might want to check into travel insurance and see what coverage is offered.

I'm not worried about anything happening.

When we were in PV we used the hotel safes and were fine. I guess we naievely (sp??) used the safes. However all of our stuff was there and we kept a lot of cash in it. HOWEVER...when we were touring the RIU Jalisco, we ran into some ladies that were on the same outgoing flight as we were. They recognized us and said that someone had taken some jewlery and a cell phone from their nightstand in their room.

I will definitely take some sort of luggage lock with us to lock up our valuables the next time.

I really didn't think of it till now. Great looking out!

It sounds like they often target wedding parties because they know when they won't be in their room.
Nice! That is a great gift!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
