Bikini Wax?

Sorry for just "jumping" here....but you will all do great! I have been getting a Brazilian wax (all the way front to back) for over a year very 6 weeks. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! My only suggestion is research where you go (If you are in Denver, CO IM me and I'll tell you the best), make sure they take there time (it takes my girl 30-40 minutes), make sure they don't use the yellow wax (like for your eyebrows) it is completely different and will do damage, and relax! It doesn't hurt very much at all....I was OVER THE TOP scared before my first one. Now the pain is like an after thought! Also, your hair will come back less and less and thinner and thinner the more you do them. It is shocking how different my hair is now compared to a year ago....like going from the amazon forest to the trees in my backyard! LOL

Good luck!

I have been getting bikini/brazilian waxes for over 6 years now and they are amazing! Once you start you won't be able to stop! Here are some tips to help:

-Remember that these girls do this all the time and you don't have anything they haven't seen before (I think of it like going to get a physical at the doctor's)

-Take a couple of Advil's beforehand if you're afraid of the pain, it'll help with the swelling you get afterwards

-Make sure you go to a place that uses hard wax. I've recently started a new place that uses it and it makes a HUGE difference! It doesn't hurt nearly as much, you don't get the redness that you get with the strip wax and the wax sticks to the hair and not to your skin. It will take a bit longer but it's so worth it!

-Wear loose pants so that's there's nothing rubbing against your skin afterwards

-Just her know that your nervous...most of them are great and will make you as comfortable as possible!

-Your hair will become finer and more sparse (huge bonus!)

Good luck!

The new one I now go to is called Hamman Spa (my original esthethician just went on mat leave, so I started going there and I love it!). Ask for Amber, she's pretty good and talks through the whole thing. It's at Portland and King, downtown. The whole place is really nice.

  • 4 weeks later...

Ok, so I finally am ready to update about my waxing experience...

It was seriously one of the most painful things I have ever experienced! I was terrified. I took 2 ibuprophren on my way to the salon, then a 1/2 vicodin when I was a few blocks away. I was having a day at the spa and they had told me to schedule it: brazilain, facial, massage - so that I started with the bad and ended with the good. When I went to check in, they were like "ok, all ready for your massage? We are going to start with massage, then facial and end with brazilian." I was like, "OH NO! No way, we are starting with the waxing b/c that's how they told me and I alraedy took my pain pill!"

Anyway, I liked that the woman was all business about it b/c it is embarrassing to lay there spreading your legs/cheeks. The first few strips were bad, but I could deal. Then she got more to the center and holy hell. I know I made some exclamations, I probably cursed a time or two. But the worst part was that I was crying like a baby! Ok, not a baby cuz I wasn't making any noise or anything but the tears were streaming down my face. So bad that I lost a contact and had to have her stop so I could get it off my cheek and put it back in!

Even though it was horrible, I had decided that I would probably do it a time or two again before I decided I wouldn't do it again. I loved the super smooth feel of my skin, but I was super tender and swollen for a few days after.

We are going on a vacation in April, so I plan to go at least one more time before then, but depending on how it grows back, perhaps twice.

So far, I'm liking the end result and I'm thinking if it gets less painful/easier to handle and your hair also grows back less, then it's probably worth it. The waxing was super fast, so even though it was excrutiating, it was like 15 minutes and then no shaving!

I'll update again after my next to see if it's as bad...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
