Bikini Wax?

question ladies...do they use the strips with wax or the hard wax on you? if you've had both, which one is easier? the couple of times i went, she used the hard wax so i was wondering if there was a reason for using one method or the other. thanks!

My lady uses the strips. I heard the hard wax was better but couldn't find any salons that used it. My waxer used to use the hard wax, but her opinion was that it didn't do as good a job / last as long. I didn't really care if it lasted less if it hurt less, which is what I heard! But now that I've gone 3 times, it's much better anyway.

I had the strip wax for years and then when my girl went on maternity leave recently, I tried a new salon that uses the hard wax. I love it! I find that the regrowth takes longer, it hurts less but it does take a little bit longer. I love it so much that I may not go back to my old girl when she returns :)

Carolina, my aesthetician uses a both waxes. She uses the hard wax for the more delicate areas and the strip wax for the larger areas. I think the hard wax is more painful but it could be where its being applied. She says the benefit is the area can be applied with less likelihood of irritation unlike the strip wax.

I'm thinking about trying the laser hair reduction just to reduce my trips to the salon but can't commit to that decision.

thank you ladies, guess I'll stick with the hard wax.

wendy: I want to do the laser hair removal too!! don't know if you've seen this thread, but it's answered some of my questions. I'm just scared because they say it works better on lighter skin tones. I'm gonna set up a consultation after the wedding, since I won't be in the sun after sept.

I did laser hair removal before my wedding and it def had an impact (still 2 years later), but it def wasn't permanent. My hair is thinner and comes in less, which makes it easier when I get waxed, but it was by no means permanent. My waxer was surprised at how little hair I had that grew in 4 weeks between appts. Which also make it less painful, but it wasn't worth the money for me.

It felt like I took my armpit and dragged it down the street! LOL!! But with that said... I loved the results...and it was worth every bit of pain! I didn't even have to think of shaving for my entire vacation and weeks after! The armpits I would definitely recommend... it was so nice not to worry about it ...or have any type of "shadow" perfect for wedding day!! I will be doing this again!!

I'm glad you recommend it! I'm thinking of going for the Brazilian and armpits for my wedding. Question, do I start now? My wedding is in October, how soon before we leave should I do it so that it's at it's peak smoothness but not red and blochy. Also, how long do I actually have to 'grow it out' to get the best results? That part frightens me just as much as the actual wax, lol. Sorry if that's TMI.

You should have a few waxes definately before October....first few times are tough but you get used to it. As far a letting the hair grow out....in my experience the bikini area just needs to be a little more than visible and they get it smooth. the longer it is you can be sure all you growth is out so keep that in mind. As for the armpits---grow those babies out if you are going to wax them. that hair grow in all different directions, lenths, thickness. Attempt to have mine waxed when they weren't long enough (she should have said NO). She ended up using tweezers---OUCH!!!

I just finished reading thru this whole thread and I just don't know if I can bring myself to do a brazilian...I don't know how you girls do it?! But I do give you credit. I def think I can handle the pain part. I have no problem getting my legs or armpits done at all. But when it comes to the bikini area, I think I'd be too embarassed to spread my legs and be all exposed in front of some stranger!! But would love to do this for the wedding and I'm sure FI would love it too!

Im loving sugaring...way over waxing! Its totes awesome! Some of the girls mentioned sugaring to me on the forum and now Im hooked! U get a brazilian, full legs, and eyebrows for way cheaper than waxing and my hair growth is way less with sugaring and much finer. I have my next appointment this monday and its been 6 weeks! Im utterly impressed!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
