I'm trying to avoid going on a site visit before the wedding (trying to save money any place I can). We are planning a beach reception and I have no clue how private it will be.

Oh almost forgot, I asked marilu to send me the nightly activities that the hotel hosts. Its very helpfull just in case any one wants to plan their events around these:

Monday: Football night (i think this is only b/c of football season)
Tuesday: Caribbean party by the beach.
Wednesday: Salsa night.
Thursday: Rock concert by the beach.
Friday: Mexican Fiesta by the main pool area.
Saturday: Karaoke at the sports bar
Sunday: Nunsense play at the meeting rooms.

Holy Crap...I am going to have a rock concert durning my wedding/reception!!! That is going to suck!!!! Maybe this way, I might not need a DJ ...that might save money...but that scares me! Rock concert? This wedding day is just getting worse and worse for me! I just want to get married and start the honeymoon!

I am also getting married at Dreams Vallarta, on a Thursday. We are having our reception on the terrace near the pool. I'm a little concerned about the rock n roll night aswell but usually this entertainment isn't very long. Will you let me know how yours works out? Also, anyone who has pictures from their own wedding, I would love to see them. I have already seen all of Marilu's pics, but I would like to see how the photographer from their package is.

I am confused now, b/c Marilu told me the Rock Concert was on Wednesday evenings. Things don't seem very consistent...I am worried now with the things she tells me.

I cut and pasted the email she sent me. I understand your frustration. I emailed her in the past to see if we needed to place a downpayment but she never responded. She confirmed the date with me and said she has reserved it, but I would feel more comfortable if there was an actual contract and security deposit. Has anyone had this same experiance? When did you begin sending money?

BTW, thanks for the menu! All the food looks good. I'm wondering if I should omit a wedding cake?

Has anyone decided on a cake yet?

Marilu let me know that no outside food is permitted by Dreams. She sent me a sample of a cake from the hotel, which i honestly hate! I don't like it at all!

Has anyone discussed this with Marilu?

Thanks!

I will be arriving 2 days before the wedding, but Marilu told me she preferred 3-4 days before, but since we aren't doing a legal ceremony, 2 days would still be ok. So must of our first and second day will be finalizing and picking out wedding stuff.

Hi Ann. I see you are getting married at Las Caletas. My fiance proposed to me there Dec. 2006. Have you been there? It's fabulous. My only concern with the place is the lack of electricity!! I worry about the heat and humidity. I was told by Nicole, the WP that there are fans but that's it! What are your thoughts on this?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
