Hi Anna,

Thank you so much for all you info and pics, you've really helped with putting a fantastic picture together! I too like the idea of eating in the lobby and partying on the terrace, Does the Lobby area lead out onto the Terrace ? Are you partying on the outside Terrace after the meal and what are you doing about music?, are you hiring out Dreams sound system ? Do you know what time you can party till privatly on the terrace ? Would you mind listing your wedding day schedule down for me with whats happening at what time so that I can get an idea of what other people are doing ?? Sorry for all the questions, Thanks again x

Thanks you guys for all those great pics !!! We have been debating the Terrace vs the Garden, so these will help...

In reading all through this thread, I realized that you were getting married just 6 days after us. We may run into each other down there :)

I too would be interested in your thoughts on the day schedule - when we asked Claudia about it, she said like 6/7 for the wedding in July - that seemed late, even though the sun doesn't set until 7:30 or so. But we wanted to make sure we took pics after the wedding on the beach in the daylight...

Thanks again for making the trip - every little extra bit of info helps !!!

First off… you are all very welcomed, I know you would do the same for me!

JODEY-

DOES THE LOBBY AREA LEAD OUT ONTO THE TERRACE?

 there are these large sliding doors in between each “canopy” of the terrace, they slide open onto the outdoor terrace

ARE YOU PARTYING ON THE OUTSIDE TERRACE AFTER THE MEAL AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT MUSIC?

 Yes, since they clear out all the furniture from the outdoor terrace for your cocktail hour, it’s “technically” still available. If it’s really nice out we might just open the doors during dinner, do an indoor/outdoor vibe. For music we are doing an IPOD, we have a section on our website that is for music suggestions from our guests and a friend DJ how is going to make a “wedding mix” for us, we plan on just hitting play.

ARE YOU HIRING OUT DREAMS SOUND SYSTEM?

 For the actual ceremony, maybe [still debating]. For our ceremony we are only having about 30 guests and I was hoping that they would be able to sit within the gazebo [by the square blocks] so we might not need it, depends how winding it is in July. The reception, no; we are looking to invest in like a bose sound system [that’s semi-portable] so that we wont have to pay for the speakers and we can use it for our home.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME YOU CAN PARTY TILL PRIVATLY ON THE TERRACE?

 Our contract states that the reception will be over at 11:30 pm. The hotel [tower] lobby bar closes at 11:00, if the bartender stays [which I am not sure if he is allowed] then we will keep partying, no one is really going to stop you, as long as the noise is minimal. I think we would probably play it by year.

FRIDAY, JULY 19th

11:00 am- Mayan Ruins with our guests- they can pay for themselves

6:00 pm- welcome dinner at Seaside Grill [all guests are invited] … we are going to try and pull the whole, we have 30 guests in our party, can you accommodate us?

8:00 pm- lobby bar for cocktails & live music!

WEDDING DAY SCHEDULE [sunday, July 20th]

5:30 am- wake up and watch the sunrise with my FI.

6:00 am- separate for the day 

6:00-9:00- have some time to myself to gather my thoughts and what not.

9:00-3:00- hang out with the girlies, eat/drink etc; I want to plan something with the girlies but haven’t decided on what yet… Dave will be taking the boys either deep sea fishing or golfing

3:00- start getting ready … hair, makeup

5:30- be ready to walk down the aisle

6:00- ceremony [we are getting legally married here, and having a “symbolic” ceremony there, one of our closest friends has registered to be a minister online]

6:30- ceremony is over … picture time.

 I want to do the rose ceremony… there is a thread about this somewhere

6:30-7:30- cocktails & snacks

7:30-11:30- reception [ultimate package]

 First dance after first course [clam chowder]

 MOH & BM speeches after salads [Chinese salad]

 Entrees [surf & turf]

 Sand ceremony before desert- we want all of our guest to be part of it. So the vase will go around the table [because I hate standing up] and each person/couple will have the opportunity to give us some marital advice and words of kindness as the place the sand that will be placed by them into the vase

Desert

Cutting of the cake

Dance till our little feet hurt ***

MONDAY, JULY 21st

9:00-11:00- breakfast @ the World Café

 Would like to go onto the strip with guests that evening, the hotel usually has “good” deals on Mondays… women in free, Men pay $40 USD, transportation is given by the hotel to the club, and you must find your own transportation back.

** for the guests that stay around for a week or so, a planned trip to Isla Mujeres paid by us. Isla Mujeres Tour

--> we will be doing our honeymoon at Dreams, we already live together so we figured if people are making the trip we want to hang out with them as much as possible... and we are going to the Dominican Republic afterwards for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary, so that would count as our honeymoon.

hmuller19- im excited, how long are you thinking about staying at dreams

WOW !! Thank you so much for all of that, I really appreciate it as I'm sure 100 other Dreams brides do too ! You've got it all planned out so well, I think you idea with taking your own sound system is great, I know quite a few other brides have done this, my consern was the volume but I could be persuaded if it saves us a fair bit of money, my brother is a DJ too so I'm sure he will be able to point us in the right direction... Have you got your dress ordered yet, I'd love to see it ! x

tlomlad - we are doing the real ceremony in Mexico, so with the wedding on 7/14, we are going down on 7/8 and staying until 7/17. We have the same attitude about our guests - we live together already as well, and for a number of our guests this trip is a big deal for them (they don't travel as much as we do) so we want to spend as much time with them as possible. We will do another trip later this year, or early next, on our own... Heck, with all the research into picking the destination for our DW, we have a whole list of places we want to go.

We are also planning on the whole "bring our own sound system" idea. When we read about Jill doing it, we thought that was a good idea and then we would have something to use for outdoor parties back home. Our wedding is small (25) but we will still do the sound for the ceremony from the hotel just to be on the safe side.

We are also doing a catamaran trip on Saturday (two days before) for all our guests - we did the trip before ourselves and had a blast, and we figured it would be a fun group activity for everyone. Still working out the whole rehearsal bit...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
