Best gifts from your registry

Recommended Posts

We're finally registering this coming weekend and I have gotten lots of (unsolicited) advice from (mostly) relatives and a few friends on what to register for since we're just under 6 months away and I have some showers coming up. So I thought I would ask you ladies, since you probably know better than all the busy-bodies giving me advice....

Question for the marrieds:

What were the best gifts you received from your registry? Anything you were iffy about registering for but in the end, glad you did? What do you use the most? What do you use the least? What do you wish you had registered for but didn't?

Question for brides-to-be:

What items from your registry are you (and your FI) most looking forward to receiving?

Question for everybody:

How many places did you/will you register at?

We are registering for pots, pans, china, flatware, stoneware, kitchen gadgets, linens, etc.

We are going to register at Macy's, Crate & Barrel & Williams Sonoma. Macy's has a great list online with suggestions. Also, Crate & Barrel and Macy's are having bridal registry parties throughout this month and next month. We are totaly doing them to get free stuff.

Our favourite gifts were our casserole dishes, and Turquoise Kitchen Aid mixer. We use the casseroles all the time, and I've wanted the mixer for as long as I can remember. It makes baking so much easier! I don't get as much time as I would like to bake, but when I do, I tend to make a day of it and the mixer allows me to do more in less time.

There's nothing I can think of that I wish I had registered for. Maybe more towels. I'm of the opinion you can never have too many linens.

As for iffy items, again, nothing really comes to mind. We went for practical things we knew we needed and would use, if not regularly at least on a semi-regular basis (ie: blender, snack trays).

We only registered at one place (The Bay), and it was more than enough. Funnily enough, my (now) husband didn't want to register anywhere, he felt like it was greedy to make a list of things we wanted. But when we got down to it and he had the scanner thing in his hands, he had the time of his life. I think he just liked being able to play with a new gadget for a few hours.

I still haven't registered. AHHHHHHHH!!
At Crate & Barrel, they open the store early (between 9-11 am) and you have to RSVP in advance to the 800 number, but they have drinks and appetizers and sales people to help you figure out what's what and how to register and junk. And they give you a free heart shaped candy dish! You can DEF drag your FI, but I was at C&B yesterday and they told me lots of girls come alone or with their moms or best friends. I'm doing the one coming up this Sunday.

I think my favorite things are the classics: gorgeous white everyday dishes from crate & barrel, nice pots and pans and knives, linens and towels. The things I don't love as much as the "extras" that you get sucked into thinking are cool but we don't use all that much: the pizza stone, the misc gadgets, stuff like that. We did get a Dyson vacuum and I absolutely love that thing.

Williams Sonoma is also doing one...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
