I'd suggest filling vases with floral foam and moss. you could also do reall orchids from the home depot.
I agree with velvet seeimg too heavy but it didn't photograph that way at all. As long as it's cruched you may be okay. I think that will turn out beautifully!
Are you intending to use tealights or votives?
I'm undecided on the fabric for the runners, I like the velvet- but it's mostly the red color I'm most interested in.
I definitely will do votives- I just didn't have any at home, so the tealights were just for demonstration.

You can get one at an arts and crafts store so that it looks flat on the table and if you pick out a really good one it won't look like felt material.
