Hey Amy,

There was a bit of a kerfluffle a few weeks back when news spread that Dreams was no longer allowing outside photographers onto the resort and you could only use the Dreams photographer for your wedding day pictures (and they were making it retroactive regardless of how long ago you had informed them of your intention to use an outside vendor). Needless to say everyone was up in arms and there was a massive Facebook and Twitter campaign and eventually they reversed their decision and posted an apology on the Discussion section of their Facebook page.

I tell everyone about this amazing site.....

Im getting married on May 25,2011.

I still havent finished my welcome brochures, last thing i have to do.....other than buying my wedding jewellry.

I need some help from past brides who visited Dreams.

I want to put a list of extentions for the resort in my brochure for example, spa, front desk, room service etc.

Do any of you either have an idea of a list of different areas of the resort that you think i can include in this list

and or the extentions?? i dont expect any one to have the extentions but if you can give me an idea of what

areas to include in this list that would be very helpful.

so far i have

front desk

spa

room service

gym

ala carte reservation

dr's office (i dont even know if they have one of these on the resort)

restaurants

Thanks girls

I kept one of the daily news/info sheet from my stay that they deliver to everyone's room, and it had some of the extensions on it, which I have listed below. There are others but I can't remember them, you can get other ideas from the welcome kit brochure they give you at the front desk when you check in. I have it if you want a copy.

Spa - Ext. 6403  (**The spa has a brochure with daily specials for the week so go by there when you arrive and check them out so you can get good deals)

Concierge Desk - Ext. 3000

Operator - Ext. 0

Explorer's Club (Kid's Club) - Don't know extension

Core Zone (Teen Zone) - Don't know extension

Internet Center? (I can't remember the exact name) where you can pay for wireless internet in your room - Don't know extension

* They call the gym the Fitness Center just incase you want to be accurate? I'm sure all your guests would get the point though lol. Also there are no reservations at the restaurants except if you want to have the hibachi grill at Himitsu there are three booking times for that I believe, otherwise they serve you Chinese there. Yes, there is a doctor's office on the resort.

If anyone wants a copy of the newsletter or the welcome kit brochure I can scan it and email it to you. Just PM me your email. The newsletter lists all the activities, bar/restaurant opening times, drinks of the day , special events, explorers club, etc. You can even request to have something listed at the bottom of it (i.e. a guests birthday, wedding, annivarsary, etc.), which would be nice touch if it is one of your guests birthday while your there.

Side note - We stayed in room 8207 and it was nice room and it was renovated if your booking a basic deluxe room (tropical garden view, bathroom was large compared to other deluxe rooms we saw) so if your not upgrading to a suite then that is a nice deluxe room. Building 8 where several of our guests stayed had a lot of newly renovated rooms.

Happy Wedding Planning/Easter! :)

Hey Brides,

I can't believe how soon my wedding is coming!!! (July 11, 2011) I'm sooo excited but also starting to get nervous making all of the plans and trying to sort out what items I should buy and bring with me to the resort, or what items to just rent.... I have a few questions to past and current brides:

1) Has one used real-touch/"natural" flowers as bouquets or corsages or boutinneires? I can't decide if I want to pay for the flowers at the resort or order these real-touch flowers which I found online.

2) I have heard on this thread that the cake for 10 people actually feeds about 30 people. Is that true? If so, should I only pay for cake for about 30 guests if I really have 60 attending?

3) Lastly, has anyone seen or used the fireworks option for their wedding? My fiance and I are interested in adding this to our package, but its pretty expensive and I want to make sure that it's worth it. Thoughts?

Thank you all for all your support, great ideas and feedback :)

Hi DRwedgal,

I'm going to be meeting with a representative from http://www.bloombridal.com/ this week to see the quality of the real-touch flowers for my bouquet, boutonnieres, and corsages. She will be showing me some roses and orchids.

I'll post my feedback after I meet with her.

Hey there,

I went to visit the resort last year before finalizing and i asked about the fireworks as we wanted it added too. The only thing i can say that we didn't like and figured the cost was not worth it, was that apparently you will have to walk with your guests to the lobby floor and overlook the balcony on the entrance and that is where you will see the fireworks. So basically it would've been inconvenient for that price and you would probably have hotel guests surrounding your group and wanting to look. So we figured it's not worth the hassle or the cost. Hope this helps!

First of all congrats to all the brides to be!  I'm new to this site and forum and was thinking of Dreams, Puna Cana for my destination wedding in December 2011. I have emailed Dreams to confirm if my date is available 1.5 weeks ago but no one has responded yet.  Is any other bride having issues getting responses from their wedding coordinator?

Thanks!

So I am sad to report that I am considering changing my resort :(  I have been waiting for apple to release their charter flights for Jan 2012 and they have.  Prices are still slightly over $1900 per person for the week.  I would switch resorts before I asked my guests to pay that much.   My guests really want to start booking now so that they have time to make payments.  My travel agent is confident that prices will drop and if my guests pay $30 than they will be guaranteed the lowest price.  However, I really can't rely on her confidence (she can't guarantee it)... and I don't know how much longer I should wait... she has recommended checking out Ocean Blue & Sand.  I am super sad because I really have my heart set on Dreams, but I would rather have more of my friends and family able to come. :( :( :( :( to be continued.............

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
