Tam - I'm right there with you!!

We have had half the guests call last night to declare "have you seen the news!" What's wrong with people?

1.) of course we've seen the news, we're not morons

2.) we have absolutely zero control over natural disasters...

Quit freaking me out!!

I'm sure the DR and Punta Cana especially will be absolutely fine. My heart goes out to those in Haiti who's lives are tough enough as it is without this kind of devastation.

On a cheerier note...having been looking for over a year for a strapless bikini with a sweetheart neckline and a fasten at the back i FINALLY found one last night at Target of all places!! Result. There is hope for my tan lines (or lack of!) after all!!

Tam - are you feeling organized? I can't believe it's all happening so soon!

Just read this on Trip Advisor...to put your minds at rest!

"There was NO EARTHQUAKE in Punta Cana ”

Jan 12, 2010, 6:59 PM

As I arrived home this evening, it was only then that I was aware of an earthquake in Haiti.

Of course many of us here have friends who are Haitian and we as a community, although having differences...stand behind those who have family and friends in regards of this natural occurrence.

To clear the air and cut through the very vague and speculative reporting of CNN and other media sources....there was no effects nor sensations felt in our part of the island.

Please understand the size of this island...second biggest in the Caribbean, thus when a natural occurrence occurs, seldom if ever is it all encompassing.

Again, our local support goes out to all of our local neighbours of Haitian decent during this unfortunate natural occurance.

The Dominicans, especially Punta Cana are safe. I know some Dominicans felt it, in citys that are closer to the border but Punta Cana is on the complete opposite side of the Island of Hispaniola from Port Au Prince.

I have family in Barahona which is very close to the border, so hopefully everything is calm around there,(we still haven't been able to talk to them).

No Jocy, not at all...

I have to get off the computer too to finally go out and buy the last minute stuff: sand ceremony stuff, strapless bra (I like), unsuccessful last night.. I have no lingerie, need more tops and maybe a skirt/dress... also am legally getting married on fri afternoon which of course no one knows about!!

Also, still no music which is bothering me... FI's job though..
got my hair extentions last night and did a hair trial too with recolouring my roots...also forgot to take my wallet with me to pay for that...

Also my Mother is a nervous wreck about all the security crap and is driving me crazy.. I told her "what's the worst they're going to do? Make you miss the flight and give you a rectal"!!
Ok, I didn't say that but I wanted to.

I am getting tired of people calling me about anything...

What about you?

Tam....breathe!!

You basically sound like i did last week. For some reason I'm calm right now...we'll see how long that lasts!!

But my mother drove me to the point of insanity - then i got my sister to chew her out for me...then she cried...apologized and now all is well. :o)

It started with her not wanting us to have a destination wedding...(unless the destination was at home in Scotland), followed by her not want us to be at an AI resort (everyone is drunk 24/7 don't you know!), followed by our impending demise by malaria (sigh...really?!!), but the final straw for me was her phone call specifically to tell me it would rain on my wedding day. WTF??

So....today was a true test of her promise not to bother me with things that are out of my control, and to give her props she hasn't even mentioned the earthquake once! I'm sure it's killing her!!

So if it makes you feel better we've not done our music stuff either!! It's on the agenda for this weekend. And my advice for the strapless bra, although expensive, Victoria Secret's strapless are my favorite!! Sand ceremony stuff we got from Michaels, cheap cheerful and does the job!

You're legal ceremony will be great and a huge relief from plan / plan / planing...and from that point on you both enjoy every moment!!

My coworkers have just thrown me a surprise bridal shower with tons of cakes!! I now feel like i might burst but i must say i enjoyed every single bite. And they gave us an American Express gift card which is so generous! Weddings are fun, especially when you're the bride :o)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
