Thanks!  Our wedding coordinator was Gara. The slow service you get through email is no better when you arrive...just a warning!

Smart move getting married at home.  Nobody will know; I didnt even realize we had not gotten legally married until the day after!

Sorry about your wedding issues.  I am worried now about our wedding as we have Gara as our wedding coordinator also.  I will be printing out all e-mails sent back and forth confirming everything we have agreed upon.  It makes me nervous that they have a few weddings a day, what happens if it rains the day of the wedding? We will be having our reception on the Himitsu Terrace, but isn't there only one ballroom to have a wedding in?  Where do the other weddings go if it rains?

Also, can anyone let me know if they have used or is going to use Michael Weiler from Caribbean Emotions as their photographer?  Is using him better than going with the resort photographer?  I booked him already, just need to send the 20% to him, but wanted to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

Thanks. Happy planning to you too. We'll be there from Apr 10-17 so probably end up seeing each other around the resort. Have you booked a photographer? This is the one thing that i'm not sure about. Not sure who the resort photographer is and if i need to book before we arrive.

Alyssa, I will be using Michael Weiler as well and have heard nothing but wonderful things about him. If you go to the Dreams Punta Cana Brides group on Facebook you can see pictures & video that he did from a recent wedding. The pics & video are gorgeous! I have also heard from several people that he is super nice to work with.

Regarding the rain, I told Gara that I was having my wedding in the sand regardless of rain.  We dealt with Hurricane Emily all day and at 5:30 - the rain stopped - my wedding was at 6pm.  It was a miracle, really.  They tried very hard to move me inside, but I was determined to get married on the beach.  We had the Himitsu booked and they moved us into a dark room behind it without notifying  me.  I wasnt very  happy about it, but must say the humidity outside may have just killed my guests....they all had a great time anyway!!  We moved our party down to the disco when the reception ended.  The people who work in the disco are great with the entertainment.  It was lots of fun......maybe a little too much to drink? ! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
