nsbride2010, I do not know if it is essential that you let them know you want a private dinner - but I went ahead and let Sharron know. That way she could tentatively "reserve" a spot for me based on how many guests we guesstimate we will have. I just figure better safe than sorry...no harm in letting them know.

spikes and tiki, we are doing welcome bags for our guests...a little "thank you" for them traveling. Not sure exactly what all will be included (personalized coozies, snacks, travel size aspirin, immodium, etc, bug spray). We are just going to bring them in our luggage. We will probably just have one suitcase dedicated to the OOT bags and make sure it doesn't entail anything breakable...then assemble them when we get down there...a fun little pool-side project with my umbrella drink in hand! :) Although it may be scary to see what those last OOT bags look like! I believe paying the extra for the extra luggage will be cheaper than shipping...plus, then you have an extra suitcase on hand for your return trip...just in case you need it.

spikes and tiki, I agree with Autumn about shipping the OOT bags... besides, what I've been told is not only is it costly but it can take much longer than you think, or can get "lost" in shipping. Better safe than sorry and take them with you! But I completely understand where you are coming from, the amount of luggage just keeps going up and up!

taratoons, congrats on getting your invites! can't wait to see them!

nsbride, i'm not sure if you can reserve a space this far ahead of time or not. every time i email them they remind me that i will eventually get assigned a specific WC who i can deal with directly instead of just emailing one or all of them. if it gives you a peace of mind, email her and let her know, but i know some girls don't even do anything about their reception until they get there.

spikes and tiki... i agree with the other girls.. way too costly and unreliable to ship everything. if you bring everything with you you'll know it's all safe and it'll get there no problem. i'm not sure how many guests you're having and where they're from, but in our case most of our guests are family and friends that live near us. instead of bringing their things, we're giving it to them about a month ahead of time with a big information booklet. we picked out the bag specifically so that they could use it as one of their carry-on items as well as a beach bag.

Hey ladies, jumping back in the forum after being gone for a bout a week, I had to play catch up to see what was going on lol.... I finally finished my save the dates which are really late but I will post pics as soon as I figure out how to do that lol.... It took me and my sisters 12 hours to do these dag on STD's but I am very happy with them :)

NSbride - I too have my eye on the bordeaux terrace too, but I thought they pick location based on your guest count, maybe I should email Deyanira too and try and lock in my location

spikes and tiki - I too plan on carrying everything with me or with my parents just because I want to make everything I put my hard work into arrives on time and in tact and don't want to take any chances of items being lost or not arriving.

Time is really flying by I just realized my wedding is actually 9 1/2 months away, it seemed like it was so far away before.

lrdavis- how long did it take deyanira to email you to confirm your date? I sent my fax a week ago, and last Friday she emailed me to confirm that it was received but they were just waiting for the judge...?

Let me know what she says, if it is a possibility to lock it in... since you have your date confirmed she might be more willing to give you an answer... haha

Hey Nsbride, it took them about 2 days to confrim mine because I am having a symbolic ceremony and not a legal ceremony, I think it takes longer to hear back from the judge when having a legal ceremony.

I will let you all know what she says about the reception site, matter fact nsbride I will copy you on my email to her, so you can see her response.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
