Dreams Punta Cana Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi. After doing some research, I saw some posts where they suggest doing a civil wedding in our hometown before we leave for our destination wedding at Dreams Punta Cana. Then, we can have a symbolic wedding at Dreams.

This helps with the legalities and with having an English ceremony. Is anyone else doing this?

Also, what is everyone giving their guests/wedding party as gifts?

Thanks!

Hi Mel!

I think this is a very common thing, its what my FI and I are doing! Its really up to you whether you do it legally at Dreams or not!

As well, we will be doing OOT bags for our guests, bigger OOT bags for our wedding party along with their own gifts. Example, I will be giving my bridesmaids larimar necklaces and something spa related; FI will be giving his groomsmen stainless steel beer steins.

Moreover, I will be giving something small to each guest at the reception, like a starfish wine stopper or something. Not entirely sure yet though!

Mel,

We are doing a legal wedding the day before we leave and having a symbolic ceremony down there.... it does save a lot of time and money with translating eng. to span etc..

I gave my girls silver heart necklaces, one with diamonds, one with swarovski crystals and my sister a Tiffany bow necklace.... I cheated by making them their xmas presents too because they cost a lot..

The grooms' gifts are their shirts for the ceremony (really nice ones)..

We are also giving travel mugs to all our guests coming down as well.

At our AHR, I think we're doing something along the lines of Nat, with the starfish wine stoppers... or maybe at this point we won't give out anything?? Not sure on that yet ...

Hope this helps...

Hi Mel,

We also did the "legal" ceremony in advance of our wedding ceremony. We ended up doing it back in April and have enjoyed getting all the annoying name changing documents out the way so when i return i can be a fully fledged Mrs at the switch of an email account!! (which i saved when we got engaged, hee hee)

We're giving the groomsmen engraved hip flasks (I'm Scottish so it's a nice traditional touch) along with wolf pack t-shirts (re: the hangover movie). And the bridemaids and grooms sister (she's doing a reading) so far have make up bags embroidered with their names....and they need to be filled!!

We're still stuck with what to give both sets of parents...sheesh ... so much to think about!

Absolutely paying for their trip counts!!

I just want to give my parents a gift as their paying for the entire thing. And then i feel like i can't give mine a gift and not Fi's - so that's where our parent gifting ideas came from.

But remember, you don't HAVE to anything!!! It's YOUR wedding!!! Hee hee (my favorite line)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
