i got a couple of those vague answers too... but i can't imagine how hard it is to work mostly with people who speak a completely different language! i love that we've all learned to number our questions and make them very clear!

toya, i keep watching for you guys to get better buffet prices! for some reason it bothers me that with all those extra people they charge you so much more!

i got my date confirmed on la barcaza last night!!!! the amazing flori asked the other group that wanted that day to move to the day before so she could accomodate our reception. i want the address of the people who changed so i can send them flowers! :)

I have heard very good things about the Bordeaux Terrance as well and from the pictures I've seen it's really beautiful over looking the water ;o) That is where we decided to hold our cocktail party / welcome party!
Beachgirl,
Did you reserve a restaurant for your welcome party or do they section a part of the restaurant off for you? How many people do you have?

Toya,

I think the dinner and cocktails are separate so it's $51/extra person for both.

I will try to figure out how to upload pics of my mugs this weekend...

I haven't decided whether or not to use the hair salon yet, don't need the makeup part as one of my guests is a makeup artist.. if it's easy, I will do my own..

Tam your right it is $51 together, this is why I need to make sure that includes the cake and champange or is that extra too. if its not included then thats $51 plus the $6.30 per extra slice of cake

Ok ladies, I am feeling like I've been had. I am not impressed right now, since this is the first time I have heard about some of these things. Check out the answer to #4.

I will post all of the questions I asked, so that we can see what I was told as well!

1. Does the $15 setup fee apply to the wedding ceremony, the reception, or both? Or neither? Just for receptions on the beach or Santo Domingo Plaza.

2. After 10 people (since I am taking the free package), what is the charge for sparkling wine per person? Each additional bottle of champagne has a cost of US$15.00

3. In the free package, are chair covers included for the ceremony and reception? Yes, it includes white covers for chairs and table for the ceremony. The free package does not includes reception. If you decide to have a dinner package, it will include white covers for chairs and tables.

4. Is the Gold dinner package $490 USD as shown on the website, or is it $40 per person as stated in the information booklet? I don't see a price for 20 people in the booklet. The Gold dinner is US$800.00 for 2010 up to 20 guests and each additional guest pays US$40.00

5. If I have more than 20 people at the reception dinner, am I charged a $15 setup fee for each person? If having the reception on the beach or Santo Domingo plaza yes.

6.For the meal, is the 15% gratuity included in the price, or is it in addition to the price as shown? 26% (taxes and services) is included in 2010 rates.

7. If for some reason we decided to switch to a symbolic ceremony, are we able to do this? Yes What is the cut-off date, and are we charged a cencellation fee?

The wedding can be cancelled six or more months prior to the confirmed date without penalties. If the wedding is cancelled within six months, the non-refundable deposit will be kept as a penalty. If the wedding is cancelled, but the couple still travels as planned, the deposit can then be applied toward any additional room charges made during their stay.

8. If we do a symbolic ceremony, is there a "souvenir" certificate we could sign in front of our guests? No. Our guests will not know that our ceremony is symbolic if we choose to do it this way. They do not have to know that the ceremony is symbolic. Sometimes the Judge is late since we just one Judge who is performing weddings in about 50 resorts, in those we can perform symbolic ceremonies and then sign with the Judge upon his arrival (normally in the office, just the couple and the witnesses) so you could say that you will be signing with the Judge later.

9. If we choose to do a symbolic ceremony, can we still have our date of July 2, 2010 and change it to an earlier time of day? Yes, based on the availability.

10. Is the charge for the huppah still $150 if we only want the tulle (or white linens, what ever it is you use on it)? We would just want the basic, no flowers or anything! :) Yes, US$150.00 just with white fabric and no flowers.

Soooo... yeah. The cost of the 'effing reception at the resort is looking more and more expensive!! The worst part is, the website says $490 and below say that it is effective for 2010. I am so confused, back to the drawing board again!censored.gifcensored.gifcensored.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
