Ou true, I forgot about that forum Erin!

See, for me, the music/dancing wasn't huge, since we will just crash the disco... but I can see how pissed off one would be if they were planning to have that...

YEAH, the wedding cake fee. UM, thought that was included? I just hope that they honor the packages we had with them.

My TA told me that they ALL charge a setup fee, but most just include it in the paclage price that they list i.e. Majestic Colonial and such. And he told me that they really only are obliged to honor what was in our contract (read: package). So, in his opinion the extras are fair game, but to check with the WC. Unfortunately, there are no WC's writing back to us, so how are we supposed to clear this up?

FI and I are thinking about upgrading our package, and just changing our ceremony from Civil to Symbolic, since we have charges now that we weren't expecting to have to pay! FML....

The music/dancing is kind of a big deal to me. I wanted to have my first dance with my husband on the terrace for my guests to see, as well as my dance with my dad. I am not going to be able to have those moments at a disco. We all plan on going to the disco too but it's just those other moments that mean alot to me. What is the point of having a audio equipment rental if you can play music? What the point of being able to rent a video screen if there is nothing to hear on it, that's where I am confused.

I guess I'll just wait and see what the outcome is. I picked a package so I am hoping the $15 dollar setup fee per guest doesn't apply. I can deal with the 3 hour limitation I guess sad.gif

Yeah I'm wondering about the setup fee with the bigger packages too... like say you pick the ultimate wedding package... is the setup fee included? That could make a difference!

Misty I totally getcha about the dance thing... we just decided to do the first dance and that stuff at our AHR (since it is only a week after FI and I get back)... what they have written there just doesn't make much sense! I hope that they still allow people to hire an outside DJ, since on another thread a girl was telling me her resort changed their policy and no longer allows outside DJ's or something... but she can still have hers since it wasn't in effect when she booked.

What a nightmare ladies! sad.gif

Yeah, I picked the Ultimate Package to avoid all these necessary charges, so that's why I am so upset. I am flying my own photographer out there and don't even need there damn 50 pictures that come with package, I just needed the dinner and cocktail hour covered! Ugh, I am going relax before I ruin everyone's day around me, because that's just how mad I get. I tend to get to a point where the next person that pisses me off gets the outburst really meant for the person that initiated the emotion, where in this case is DREAMS, and I can't curse in spanish but I might as well sit here and learn how too!!

with ya on that Misty... I get really emotional really fast, and it is one of my biggest downfalls. I am going to see if I can switch to the ultimate package as well. Looks like we will be doing a symbolic ceremony now... argh!! I don't want the photos either... just some of the other sh*t.

I need a break from wedding stuff before I lose my mind in anticipation for what the WC will say!

Nat, I checked out some other resort packages last night and they do all have a set-up fee , but it is included if you purchase a package, so I am really hoping that this is the same case for Dreams. now instead of getting the free package I too will be upgrading my package to avoid paying the set-up fee

ebredhawk - i have asked my WC (Carolina) specifically about the music on the terraces and haven't heard back yet. Naturally I'm panicking because we have paid for an outside DJ to come in so i am going to be raging if we can't use him. Not to mention ruining my dream wedding reception!

I've also asked about every single price discrepancy in the new list. The set up fee being the most significant addition to their price list!

I even sent a second email today to check she got the first email. No response to either.

I checked the Dreams forum and i don't think anyone has posted anything about this on there. But then again...i didn't post anything there either.

This is extremely frustrating!

The dancing and music was also really important to me too, so I'm still hoping they allow it on the terrace, they never actually say you can't have music on the terrace, so the update brochure is still not clear

OK soooo I just spoke to Sharron. She said that the only place they dont allow music/dancing is in the restaurants (like before I imagine). So for the private receptions at the the terraces you can dance and have music. Also, the set up fee per person is waived for the Ultimate package.

This is the answer I got from her:

"We do allow music and dancing on the terrace and the set up charge is included, you do not need to hire a dance floor." She is speaking about the Ultimate package here.

Hope that helps girls.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
