Tam, I think your dress is beautiful! And I wouldn't worry about not liking it, you bought it because you loved it originally, and even you said it looks better ON than on the model! :0)

Toya, WOW you are one popular girl! > 70 guests, that's awesome! I went to a destination wedding in 2008 that had 75 guests, and it was a blast!

NSBride, that's soooo exciting about getting your dress in early! I've talked to a few people who've had the same thing happen, I think they definitely exaggerate the order time so that everyone won't leave dress buying until the last minute.

Regarding the free room, I thought it was Dreams policy to give you one free room if you book 5 rooms for 7 nights, or if you book the Honeymoon suite? That's what I THINK we're getting, unless something's changed that I don't know about!

Tam I looked at that mug website, thank you so much for posting! I played around on there for 5 min and came up with what I think will be the PERFECT mug for everyone! Prices are very reasonable too.

What are you guys doing for bridesmaid gifts? I've been stressing over this issue for some time, but I think I've decided to get calf-length pink waffle robes embroidered with their names, and then pay the $30 for the day pass to the spa the day of the wedding. I will get my MOH the same, and then pay for her to have a body wrap or facial or something too. I myself will get a white robe embroidered, of course! :0)

I have asked for all the group rates I can get from Evelyn and she has only given me the 10 room deal. I just emailed her about this one to get some things cleared up because she has not offered that to me at all. So hopefully we"ll get some answers ladies! It may have been a limited time offer I'm thinking :-(

That would be a great idea!! I am going to make them the tank tops that you always see (bride, MH, BM) with scriptina writing (for those who have DIY you know its gorgeous) with iron on transfers. As well, I am ging to buy them larimar necklaces upon arrival in the Dominican, because it is something very destination appropriate!!

On the topic, what are your FI's getting for their groomsmen? My FI has no clue what he should get them!

Tara,
I really like that idea of the robes with embroidery on them and the spa part.... have to think about that. HOw is that price wise? Where are you going to get the robes from and the embroidery done?
I have been wracking my brain for gift ideas that are more on the personal side.. so far I've just come up with jewellery.

NOt sure if they have the stores in Ottawa, but in TO they have Brandz Gone Wild.. it's kinda like a winners/outlet dumping ground.. I was there for the first time the other day and bought some Ping and Izod golf shirts for my Dad for xmas that were under $20 each, (normally $70+)... WHile there, I saw some cute short robes I think that were Joe Boxer.. I'll have to go back now.

I haven't decided on what dinner package to get.. I like the platinum on best, but might settle on the gold and get a photog instead too... the FI is being cheap about the photog, and says we can get lots of pics from everyone and even walk around with some people to get prof. looking pics, but I disagree...
but it is a lot more money.
I might just use the hotel photog just because it's easier and am worried about the other ones being too expensive.. I wish they would post packages online!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
