So far, I have a white sari with all-over gold work. I have a video of it, but it looks like a shapeless cloth wrapped around me as the lady fitting me was only doing it for effect. I want to have a gold dupatta (read: veil) with a gold sequence border and crystal work done on it to match. I will also be sporting a wedding dress though, so I am not sure how I am going to work two outfits. Maybe the sari for the legal day and the dress for the DW, or the sari for the ceremony and the dress for the reception/TTD.

Don't even talk to me about Christmas. I have no idea what I am getting people, but the last two years I was pretty good about getting nice gifts that didn't break my budget and they were very creative. The most expensive gifts were for my nephews and that was basically $20 in a card because I did not know what to get them. I also tend to spend quite a bit on FI, but that will stop as of this year as we clearly got bigger plans to come.

One thing I may try to do it with my family this year is to just draw names out of a hat and then everyone just gets one thing for one person -- basically a Secret Santa but in the family. I think that is much more cost effective and everyone gets a gift. Christmas can be way over played sometimes.

Hi there, everyone! Hope you all had a great Halloween, did anyone do anything fun? I dressed up as a bubble bath and had a couple friends over with a Halloween inspired meal. We only got 5 trick or treaters (and we were giving out FULL SIZE chocolate bars!) but we had a good time anyway! :0)

Now onto the next big holiday, Christmas. I get so stressed around Christmas-time, but I also love it sooo much, I want to put my tree up the second the Halloween decorations come down! I'm skimping a bit this year what with the new mortgage, and the wedding coming up, so Secret Santa with family it is!

Tam, where are you getting your travel mugs? Are you getting them printed with any message or anything? I want to do the same thing instead of favours since I think they'll get used more and will be good tools for identifying people who are there for the wedding, but I'm having trouble finding good prices through companies that ship to Canada. :0( Any help you could give me would be great!

Jocy, your dress is breath-taking! Who's the designer? You look gorgeous in it, even though it's miles too big for you (as evidenced by all the pins at the back!). Absolutely gorgeous! I haven't been able to post photos on here (no idea how, I don't even have a profile picture!) but here's a link to mine:

Hope that works! I love it but of course the model is wickedly skinny, doesn't look quite the same on this girl. ;0)

Good luck to all of you who have your fittings this weekend, I hope it all goes well!

Ladies I have a question! I am looking at the DPC site, and it looks like the wedding extras site was updated, but maybe only partially? The cost for the reception dinner i.e. silver package is lower than the package prices that someone here was given that we all have. Any accounting for this? It is definitely worth a look, and maybe one of you has already noticed this and asked. It states at the bottom that the prices are effective for 2010....

Tara your dress is beautiful! classy with high impact.

We are ordering our mugs from discountmugs.com. they ship to toronto, so they should go to Ottawa. They have been the cheapest prices I have seen too...

I was supposed to have ordered today, but got busy...again.

They have a ton of choices.

We are just going to put something simple like Punta Cana, DR as although it's cute while you're there, we figure no one wants to walk around carrying a travel mug with our names on it after..

Ok, here is the website for my dress... I am REALLY nervous about going to try it on though. It is on bestforbride.com JAI collection #8594.

When I look at all the other dresses (especially on here) I start doubting my choice...

I will say two things though:

I am true hour glass figure so I got a dress that fits over the hips.

I look WAY better than the model does in the dress.. she just looks like she's PMSing and needs some chocolate or something.

If you look it up (I tried to get a link to it) you have to be as honest as possible..

Im sure I will feel better once I try it on again, but I'm still freaking..

Yeah, you're right Nat, that's weird... I like those prices a lot better though. What kind of packages is everyone looking at? What about photog?
Are you guys just using the hotel's photog?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
