Toya, your deal is awesome...

Are all your guests staying a full week?

Hey, how long are you guys staying at the hotel for?? Is anyone staying extra days after everyone else leaves?

We were thinking about it but we have already booked to come home with everyone else. Plus, for our real honeymoon, I want to go to Europe in the spring or summer..

tam - we're doing the same thing for our honeymoon! we're actually staying the same amount of time as all of the guests, but next summer we're doing 2 weeks in europe as our "post-wedding vacation". people kept making fun of us since it's not really a "honeymoon" so that's what we're calling it!

How did you find Dominican Republic as a destination? Is it a place you would revisit on your own (i.e. even if it wasn't your sister's wedding)? I am having a hard time selling my FI on it. He is nervous about the beaches being not that great.

You can rest assured! The beaches in Punta Cana are AMAZING! Though I don't know for sure about DPC, as it's more north than Ocean Blue was. But aside from the obvious abject poverty you see on the trip in from the Airport, the Dominican is absolutely beautiful!

We did the stingray excursion and it was amazing. We are thinking of doing the Saona trip this time around, and hopefully we'll be able to travel to the capital to visit our World Vision boy that we sponsored (as a wedding gift to each other and to give back to the country we got married!).

We would for sure have gone back without SIL's wedding, and we have to admit we did a lot of convincing to get her to have her wedding there (they were going to go to Jamaica) :)

Yeh we are staying pretty much the same time as our guest, most of our guest are going from 5-6 nights, me and Mike are staying for 7 nights 8 days, but we are returning the same time our guest are which is June 22nd.

We want to have our honeymoon in 2011 in Aruba, which was our first pick for a DW.

I am really anxious to see how the contract will look for the free night group promotion. Nat where are you ? I know you said you have the same deal lol.....

Hi Ladies!

Things seem to be progressing well for everyone, and I'm happy to hear it! I haven't had a chance yet to look into excursions, but my fiance works for a travel agency, so I'm hoping he has all the info!

Welcome, Debs! You are from Brockville? I'm originally from the big town of Gananoque, and my wedding date is April 12, one day before your SIL's! We will be there at the same time! Small world! :0)

We found our bridesmaids dresses on the weekend, now it's just a matter of convincing all the girls that they are worth the $238 + tax. I let my MOH choose the dress, and I think it'll be flattering on everyone, plus it's EASILY wearable again. The cheapest one we looked at was $198, it's craziness!

Hey ladies! Sorry I haven't been on, we don't have our internet hooked up down here yet, s we steal a connection from a neighbour... haha but their wireless is sporadic, so I don't get on much!

Our deal is offered through our travel company, Sunwing. What our deal has, is every 12th person gets a free trip. So that means room and airfare. But the "free trip" does not include tax, so thats about $300 from Canada, and it would not include our choice to upgrade to a honeymoon suite. It is a free basic room + airfare. So basically Ben and I pay only for our honeymoon suite upgrade + the taxes.... does that make more sense?

Its freeing up some money, which we definitely will not complain about! We are staying at DPC for 2 weeks for about $1300 bucks... sweeeeet LOL

Thanks Nat that helps me understand alot better now.... Your deal is way better than mine because yours includes the stay and airfare, you can't beat that. Ours only give us a free room for every 5 rooms booked I think

LOL @ using the neighbors internet thats too funny hahahahaha

i emailed my TA about the deal from the resort and she said she didn't think we would qualify for it. i guess she was told that it doesn't apply if you are having some other kind of event (like a wedding) or if your reservation wasn't new... i'm not sure what "new" means. she said she was going to check to make sure we weren't missing out on something though so i'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get SOMETHING!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
