Toya,
Yes please!! And I don't even know what oics are.... I tried for quite a while last night and couldn't get anything to take... I have done most of the text part so really it's just the pictures I'm having trouble with.. I was on google too trying to copy and paste... no idea why it won't work for me other than that's just my dumb luck... or operator disabilities!smile105.gif

Good Morning Ladies, I'm not sure if there is a actually list for cakes, but I pulled this off the Dreams website wedding section -

What kinds of wedding cake can you supply?

The wedding cake will be chosen by you. Once you arrive at the resort you will meet with the wedding coordinator to choose your cake. We have a standard white icing cake (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, or almond). Should you want a specific design, please send the picture and it will be quoted separately.

Good Morning Ladies !

Toya - Thanks for the info! I wasn't sure they would be able to accommodate the type of cake we want. You are awesome!

Well we've been together for 3 1/2 years, engaged for 2 1/2 and so he just said to me yesterday "I'm tired of waiting". He's right, we're exhausted LOL. I mean I will marry him today, tomorrow, in a year, or in 5 years. Makes no difference to me, I will still love him if we can't get married until we're however old. He said that getting married on the same date, just a year before would not only be less complicated because of all of the paper work, but it will save us about $1000 (he researched it and everything!). Now with that said, it's really appealing and what not... but at the same time I know that our parents dislike the fact that they wont be here if we do that. I just don't know what to do now!!!!!!

It feels like it's always about everyone else and pleasing them or accommodating them. However, I feel like this is one decision I can't make without my parents in particular being behind us, because everyone will be paying all this money to watch us "get married" (although really who goes to a wedding to watch someone sign the marriage certificate?!) and if we get married now it's like a waste of their money (does that make sense?)

So I'm torn. I have to make up my mind in like 3 weeks (otherwise we loose the Oct. 15th significance) and right now I have no idea where to start. He really wants to do it so he's left it "in my hands now".

Sorry for the thread hijack.

Aw Tam thanks!! It was super cute... and now that he is gone away to hockey camp, and I won't be able to join him for about a month, I go to that place (since I work close by) and I eat lunch and smile! :)

You know Ash, Ben and I went back and forth about this for about a month... its a tough decision! Here's what I think: Do what you guys feel is right for you. Don't worry about anyone else, who might not come if you do a renewal of vows instead, etc. etc. etc. Those that will still come are those that are the ones that matter... so don't worry about that part!

Now, about your parents. That is the part that I would be having the most trouble with, too. Have you discussed it with them? What are their thoughts? I can't imagine getting married and now having my parents there! BUT, at the same time, you can explain to them the cost difference, the significance, and so on and tell them that even though you are getting married October 15th, 2009 that you are truly thinking of your "wedding day" as October 15th, 2010! If they really aren't comfortable with it, and getting married without your parents is something you don't want to do, talk to FI about it. He seems like a very rational and understanding person, and he should understand. We had the same issue, we wanted to get married beforehand and do a renewal of vows, but my parents wouldn't be there... so my parents said that if we did the legal ceremony in DR that they would pay the translation and legalization costs. Good compromise, since that was the thing holding us back as well!

Sorry for continuing the thread hijack... haha xoxo

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
