@ kellie, cocktail hour is included with your package (at least that is what i understood). you can request to have it any of the bars as long as its available that day!

Also, best place to get an answer fast is on the Facebook page- they have a gentleman Hector Dreams-Concierge he is SO fast at responding to questions. faster than wedding coordinators!!!

good luck!!!!

We got married at Dreams Punta Cana three weeks ago and had the Ultimate Wedding Package with the private reception at the beautiful roof terrace overlooking the sea Portfino Restaurant.  There is an open bar included in this package.  The food was great and nothing is too much trouble for them there with our own designated waiter service throughout the meal and reception.  We were ordering cocktails and all sorts! If you ask they will send you over a list of drinks...it's extremely lengthy!  Enjoy and good luck!

Hi Ladies, I just bought a living social deal for Personalized Stamps. I thought it was a great price given that the company that we are getting our invitations from wants to charge $50 for a personalized stamp!!! Who knew invitations were so expensive??? Anyway, I hope that you ladies can use this! Happy Planning! :)

is this something you can ask ahead of time? I'd love to highlight "speciality" drinks for cocktail hour & reception :)

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this and have read every single one of the posts in this thread, such a wealth of information! We are planning our wedding for November of 2014, and are still deciding which Dreams resort to go to.
I am wondering if you are able to bring your own pastor and have a legal ceremony there? That way you don't have to wait for a judge or pay for the minister and can be married legally. I don't know if this is possible but it'd be convenient as my Uncle is a pastor.

Thanks,

Jackie

Hello Brides!!! We booked this resort for our June 16th 2014 wedding!!! AHHHHHH pinkie.gif We are going to have the ultimate wedding package, beach wedding, and reception at Portofino's. Any advice out there from the other brides? (I'm new to this site). I was wondering if you really need a dance floor, or what kind of extras were good! I would love those lanterns to hang from the ceiling, any idea on how many looks good?? Thanks ladies!!!

Dreams Punta Cana Review!!!

AMAZING!

Hey Ladies,

I just returned from Dreams Punta Cana where I spent 10 days and had our wedding with 31 guests. I was so  nervous about how everything would turn out but if you have chosen here..don't be! I had Yessica as my wedding coordinator and she was just amazing. The most polite, friendly person I have ever worked with. She absolutely did anything we wanted and worked as hard as possible to make us happy. I have tons of pictures if anyone is interested. We originally had our reception set for the Himitsu Terrace after our sunset wedding on the beach. The day before Yessica informed us that there was a group of 220 locals that had rented the ballroom (Himitsu is right outside) and that we may want to consider moving since there are so many people that will be coming in and out. They offered us the Portifino Restaraunt which honestly was the best thing to happen. It was air conditioned and just beautiful. I didn't think heat would be a problem in November but it was still very humid the night of our reception. We also had half of the portifino terrace which is just beautiful! We had a cigar roller (definitely recommend) outside on the terrace and then our dinner and dancing inside the restaraunt. The service and food was impecible. Wilkins (our bartender) did not let anyone go wanting another drink. We had the Beef Tenderloin with potatoes which everyone in our group just loved. It was cooked just right. We hired the "professional DJ" which was good bc they had a seperate MC to annouce you and get things going. If you do the regular DJ they just play music and are not bilingual.

The wedding on the beach was gorgeous. Yessica performed the ceremony bc the judge was not available (kind of odd but apparentlyl this happens a lot just FYI) but he later came to the reception and remarried us and we signed all the legal paperwork. They said there is only one judge for the island or area so he doesn't always make the ceremony even though you are paying for it. She actually did a better job bc she read a poem and made it a little more ceremonial rather than legal sounding. I had rose petals placed down the sand, the chairs come covered but I brought some chair ribbons and she gladly put them on for me. There is a permanent Huppa with white covering on the beach that was pefect. I didn't add any other flowers but you could. For the reception, I had table runners and bows that I brought. Then just rented a hurricane filled with candles, sand and shells. It was very pretty. You can also get various flowers as centerpieces but we opted to just do the candles. The flowers for the bouquets were perfect. She painted the roses to match my bridesmaids dresses. Yessica paid attention to every detail to make it perfect!

One last idea that turned out wonderfully. We opted not to do a rehersal or welcome dinner but just told everyone to meet us for dinner. They were able to seat us together and we didn't have to spend the 15 pp. We then did the bonfire on the beach with bar service. I think this was our guests favorite part. They set up a huge bonfire with lounge chairs all around. We just brought down our Ipod and then had a little bar set up right there on the beach. It was so much fun!

Congrats!!! This is where I'm having my reception at! Which package did you choose? Did you have to pay extra for the open bar at the reception?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
