Hello Ladies!!!

Sorry I'm so late, but things have been hectic since I got married.  I'm going to start from the beginning hope I don't bored you guys and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.    ....here we go....

My marriage was on December 22, 2012. I am originally from DR and my mom has a house there so we shipped all my center pieces, OOT bags, anything that was bulkier with the exception of my dress.  I arrived to Santo Domingo, DR on Dec 18th, pickup my stuff and my mom and on Dec 19th headed to the resort which was a 3 1/2 hour drive.  The place was FARRRRR.

When we arrived we got upgraded to the honeymoon suite, which was great. the weather was beautiful the food was good at the restaurants, the food at the World cafe was ok, but not all that.

On the 21st we had the rehearsal dinner at the Oceana Restaurant, we just went and waited to be seated it was 39 of us and they put the tables together well two long tables to accommodate us at no extra cost. we were a little loud and boy did we have fun!!  :)  the waiter/waitress were just great and so nice!!!

on the wedding day Dec 22nd the morning was beautiful, just gorgeous, my ceremony was supposed to be at the Gazebo and the reception at the Himitsu terrace. Right after I got my hair and makeup done (by the way they are great, they did my hair and make up just beautiful and they didn't mind taking it down or putting it back up if I asked them to) it started to rain :~( and when I say rain it was like cats and dogs, lots.  so we had to move the wedding inside.  :(  so not happy.   the ceremony was moved to the Himitsu cover terrace area, and the reception to a banquet hall right by the himitsu terrace.

The way they decorated the locations was just beautiful, it turned out just great I didn't mind much that it was inside since they did the decoration just like a wanted and more.

My WC was Yessica, she's great!!!!  very detail oriented and she does what you ask.  My cake was beautiful, the flowers on the cake was made by a friend of my mom, edible since they were going to charge to much.  there was so much cake left, they said they will send it to our room but we never got it and then we just didn't claim it. Yessica also did the ceremony and we got the basic DJ, (the cheap one) and they were great, we could just go up to them and tell them what we wanted to dance to or hear and they would play it.  We had a blast.

My photographer was Caribbean Emotion, Michael and Pascal were just great!! we communicated over email and phone and they were able to deliver the picture to me at Santo Domingo since I left the resort the day after the wedding. they were just great!!!!

I will post some pictures hopefully tonight, I can't now since I'm at work.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Kellie!!!
Can you share ALL of your pics!?? :D

& do you happen to have pics of the Oceana Restaurant?!??  I am DYING to see more detailed pics as that is where I will be having my reception. While stalking all of the photo/videographer vendors for ideas on FB (i know, i'm crazy). I found ONE couple who had their reception there. & of course I am a crazy bride & I decided to reach out to someone who was tagged on the photos to no avail b/c she never responded.  I just need to see the space/set up b/c I need to figure out decor -- flowers are SOOO expensive :(

And for the rehearsal you want it to be 100% private?? I've read in previous entries that most have forgone setting this up to not pay the $15 and were able to sit the group together (you just had to wait a while to be seated) -- not sure if that is something you would want to do.

Are you also on the FB group page? I swear I've seen someone asking the same question.

I'm getting married at the end of May and have sorted most stuff out but I'm after a bit of help - I have emailed my wedding co-ordinator but she always takes a week to come back to me and I'm impatient!!

Our reception is on the El Patio terrace but I wanted the cocktail hour on the beach - has anyone got any idea of what they charge for this, originally I was told $15 per person but have since established that this is if you have the whole reception on the beach.

I also wanted a rehearsal dinner on the italian terrace unfortunately this is booked and I don't want it on the same terrace a the wedding and as there is only 20 of us I think the Himitsu terrace will be too big - I know I can pay $15 per person for a set up in a restaurant, has anyone done this (thinking probably oceana) were you all sat on one long table and is it a set menu (I haven't been sent these options does anyone have them?) and if I did this I was thinking I could maybe do a private cocktail party beforehand, but wondering what locations I could have this if I'm not having the meal on a terrace (and obviously don't want the beach as it'll be the same as the wedding)!

Sorry rather long I know but if anyone could help I'd appreciate it.

Kellie

PS - I have had a lot of the menu, flower choices, price for 2013 etc sent to me so if anyone wants me to email them anything please let me know, I was also lucky enough to visit the hotel last year so have some pictures if anyone wants anything.

hello ladies... I have been away from the forum but I check in every few days to read any updates. I am having a catholic ceremony and I have a question for any bride that has had or will have a catholic ceremony. Here in NY its not a requirement to have done your confirmation to be married in the catholic church. I heard from a fellow bride that she was told it was in DR. Can anyone let me know if they were able to have the ceremony without having the done their confirmation? Help please!

If you send me your email address I'll send over what I have, I'm pretty sure I have some of Oceana, its a funny shaped restaurant with the grill attached by the bar area - maybe I'll draw you a picture to help explain!!

No I'm haven't asked the same question on facebook. Think I'm going to go for Oceana for my rehearsal - it's so frustrating waiting for the WC to get back to me all the time, she takes ages!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
