Getting close - so much to do.

The place I ordered my dress is going (has gone) out of business.  I was one of the lucky ones who actually got to get their dress.  Phew!  What a scare!

We are just in the process of finishing up and handing out our OOT bag stuff.  I made a bunch of beach totes, we got Bubba's for everyone and had stickers printed, decks of cards and some "waterproof wallets" (not great ones, but we tried), and I would like to finish a booklet I started about who's coming and some things to do and spanish phrases etc.

One word of advice - don't do this around Christmas with kids! LOL

We met with our photographer on Saturday (Phil Stiengard).  Went through the plan for the day and the trash the dress session.  I'm so glad we got him!  He's got everything down and he's gonna walk us through the day.  He also knows Pastor Rick York well, so I'm not stressing about when we're there.  Just packing!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hello Ladies (and Gents),

We are getting married at Dreams Punta Cana on April 15, 2013 and time has flew by!! So excited, to return to Dreams, and to celebrate Love with those most important.  I was wondering if there are any reviews on the El Patio for a receptions, advice on getting a DJ...? Decorations...?  Also, in terms of the menu's, any recommendations?

What a beautiful forum!!! I have read many pages, but many more to go :)

Thanks for any suggestions!!!

Can anyone help me out?!? I'm so nervous, I'm leaving to get married at dreams punta Cana in 16 days! Yessica is my coordinator and she has done a great job so far. My main concern is that I'm having a beach wedding at 6 pm because I couldn't get an earlier time and I'm worried it will be dark out while trying to do pictures afterwards. Anyone know if there will still be some sunlight out around 6-7:30??? Also I opted out of paying $15 pp to have a rehearsal to save on money but would still like to do a welcome dinner, any suggestions?!?!

Hi, hmszafranki!

I was married at Dreams in early December, and it was pretty dark by 6-6:30. I'm not sure if it's changed much since then...

And, we were the same way with both the rehearsal dinner and reception - we had 12 guests and I just couldn't justify paying $15 a seat for a reservation.

So, for our rehearsal, my husband's father went to Oceana when it opened to try and put in our request. Unfortunately, there was a line for the restaurant so we couldn't have it there (if you have a large party, they have to seat everyone in line before they'll seat your party).

But, we were able to get in a Seaside Grill (it's right next door) with no problem, so we waited for everyone outside Oceana and just walked over to Seaside Grill together. It was really nice! They put us in the left side of the restaurant at three tables right next to each other, and it worked out perfectly. It even felt very private, even though we were in the middle of the restaurant.

My advice is to have a Plan A and Plan B if you aren't doing the reservation, and to have your designated table-getting there when the restaurant opens (restaurant times will be on the daily newsletter you get in your room).  Plus, there's always the World Cafe if for some reason it doesn't work out. There was always a lot of extra room and big tables in there.

Good luck!!

We got married this past August, we booked a regular room and when we arrived they upgraded our room to a honeymoon suite. Free of charge. I did know that it would happen. I had the mother of another past bride inbox me on FB advising me that they would do it. So we decided to take our chances and book the regular room. If it didn't work out we were prepared to pay the difference.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
