Hi Chinanow, congratulations and I hope the planning process is going well for you! I am actually working with Barbara Vong from Wright Travel and all I can say is she is amazing and has been great to work with! She got us some awesome group rates and has been wonderful as far as answering every question I have (I think since I began working with her about 2 months ago, we have exchanged over 40 e-mails). She has made it very easy for our guests to put their deposits down and has been very clear as far as explaining how group booking works, incentives and things we can get for free if we book 10 to 20 rooms. In order to secure a room they require at least $100 deposit per person and guests have until 60 days before the wedding date to pay their final payment. I really have no complaints it has been such a smooth process and I hope it continues to go that way. Let me know if I could be of any help, good luck!

May I be nosy and ask, what price and for  how many days will your guests be staying at the resort? And what state will most of your guests be flying out from....and do you know how many months did your guests have to pay their balance down? And how much did they have to pay?

Sorry for the questions....but for many of my guests...this doesn't seem affordable....but hopefully the deal will be cheap enough that it won't be out of reach for my guests...

thanks

Sure! No problem, please fell free to ask away... I am the same way and had (and still have) TONS of questions so please do not hesitate!

She quoted me the following for 4 nights:

$784 for 2 people

$ 492 for 1 person

$ 912 triple occupancy

please keep in mind that these are rates for Aug. 21-25 and the reason I believe it is so cheap is because it is not during what is considered "peak season." Most of my guests will be flying out of California and we still don't know how much airfare is going to be.

My fiance and I put down $1000 to reserve 10 rooms and once they have been reserved, we will get that money credited back to us. They have from now until June 22, 2013 to pay their balance in full.

Hope this info. helps!

As for me, I'm totally all up in the air about what to do but I'm thinking of hanging lanterns & tons & tons of candles. minimal on the flowers- just for the wedding party & ceremony?.  My reception is at Oceana so I asked the WC and they can hang them from the beams for a fee.  & i'm definitely going to have to revisit Pinterest lol I had to stop b/c i would spend hours on there LOL its addictive!

@Carolina, for save the dates I went the cheapest by using PaperlessPost  -- we didn't want to spend $ on postage 2x so the invites will be sent to everyone who got a save the date. I decided to go w/ and Etsy vendor who designs the invitation for you & you print it.

btw @Skyy I love your save the date idea!!!!!   & do you mind sending my the info to the florists?? I'm curious to see what they charge too! ([email protected])

@NegritaDR those invites look awesome! & all of your DIY stuff looks really great!!!! i love your bouquet!!! i tip my hat to you for doing all that work!!!   What are you giving as your favors!???

& what are you other ladies thinking about doing for favors???  thats been my #1 "i dont' know"

@Natalie, i did set up a wedding website & its the best thing ever! lol -- anytime I've sent an update to my guests I've always directed them to the site. Btw, I didn't get to finish my site by the time the STD's went out. So we like that we gave our guests a new section to look for when they do visit :)  btw I've even put a FAQ section b/c everyone seems to ask the same questions! if you don't have a site, get one! it helps so much with organizing all the information.   a

AWWWW much better..Sorry for the delay...I have 45 days till D day! and Im pretty sure I have never been this stressed out in my life!   @ Chinanow I went to Michaels and bought fake t-lights for the Votive.  Im going to test them out sometime this week to make sure they work and give off enough light.  Otherwise Im going to have to use real one.  Which im kind of worried about with all the paper pom poms.  Im have 34 guest! : ) So 7 tables.  Also I think we get a sweetheart table so im going to do smaller votive for our table and smaller pom poms! : )  I really hope everything turns out!  Oh also I sent her a pic of my flowers and she said she could do them for me but they would have to dye or paint them the color! Which at this point I dont care!  Im also doing Real flowers in my hair and cake.  Both will cost 50.00 each.  I figure money well spend.  One less thing I have to worry about.

Im also having my hair done twice.  Once for a practice run and for the real thing

My flowers! : ) Te Gusta?

@ msvasq  Im going to be pre making all of my pom poms before hand.  Im hoping to buy some type of bin ( at walmart or target) something big and small enough to put in my suite case that way once I get down there all i have to do is take out the bin and fold and string!  Thats the plan as of right now.  I might try shoe boxes too!  Me and My husband to be will be carrying two suite cases each.  CROSS MY FINGERS its not too much with the wedding dress too : /

Also I sent a pic of the flowers I want.  She said NP they would have to dye or paint them to that color.  Which at this point I dont even care!  Im also doing real flowers in my hair and for my cake topper.  Both are 50 bucks each.  Im hoping its money well spent.  Just one less thing I have to worry about! : )

Ladies!!!

Not sure if any of you are on the Brides Punta Cana FB group - but I just learned last night that the resort is NO LONGER allowing outside vendors!!!!!!

It is truly outrageous and unacceptable especially because the resort has not communicated this to anyone unless you ask. I drafted a letter if you want to use is. But everyone is reaching out individually to fight this.

To Whom It May Concern:

It has come to our attention that new rules have been implemented at the Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa restricting outside vendors from providing services to weddings. These restrictions were never clearly communicated to those who booked a wedding at the Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa and have only come to light recently from outside sources.

It is unacceptable and bad business for a resort to change its rules without proper notification to brides/grooms and families leaving us all dumbfounded and at a loss on what to do next; especially after brides were provided information by their appointed wedding coordinator that outside vendors were allowed for a fee.

We all have chosen the Dreams Punta Cana Resort for a reason and for this to happen mid-way preparations is truly disheartening. We all have already taken a leap of faith to have our wedding far from the comforts of home - and we rely on communication to ensure our special day happens as we all have dreamed it would.

We hope that you take this letter seriously and remedy this issue in a timely manner as best you can to satisfy our needs as well as yours. It is our hope that no future bride will ever have to endure such lack of consideration from your resort in the future.

Thank you,

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
