We inquired with our travel agent, wedding coordinator at Dreams, and Dreams resort themselves and we could not get a straight, consistent answer from anybody regarding payment options. We asked if we could pay by travelers checks...our travel agent said yes but our WC & the resort said no. We can pay by credit card but the card companies charge ridiculous fees. So the only option we know is acceptable is cash but as you said we are nervous traveling w/that much cash. Not sure what else to do though.

I'm assuming Melissa is speaking about the credit card fees. Usually credit cards charge an international fee for all purchases abroad and they usually are in like the 20% fee on the purchase total. But i guess i will just have to fork up that fee to the credit card company since i would want that protection that welljen mentions.

Can't wait though, 2 months from today i will be getting married at Dreams, i can't wait! So much to do and i would've thought that 2 years prep time would've been enough! haha

If you have a CapitalOne Credit Card, they do not charge international fees. We actually signed up and got a credit card two weeks before we left just to avoid paying the international fees. It worked great, we earned cash back rewards, and the resort had no issues. We also asked the resort for a copy of the bill (i.e. room charges, wedding charges) two days before we left to make sure that everything was right.

Yes the fees are the credit card international fees. Someone on one of the Dreams Facebook pages said that they were able to use their debit card and didn't have any fees. I think that is what we will do. We will just transfer the cash into our account right before we leave then just use the debit card. I would think if there were any problems w/the charges we could contact our bank for security measures as well. We are trying to watch our credit right now as we are thinking about purchasing a new house in the next year or two so we don't want to have a lot of credit cards outstanding.

Ska, I'm right there with you! I was 2 months to go on 9/4. We still have to pick up my wedding ring, buy my FI clothes for Punta Cana and his suit for the AHR, finish buying stuff for the OOT bags, get our best man's gift, and a bunch of other little things which if I continue talking about I'm gonna have a panic attack! LOL.

Hahah Melissa. Yeah, all the little stuff that add up! I guess I'll be seeing you that Friday!! =)

I pretty much have all the items below done, just finalizing the spanish packet for the oot bags, along with a who's who for our guests which will also be put in the bags. I have not yet bought the pepto or tums, i figured we should have that in the oot bags too, but have not yet purchased them. I just remembered, we need programs as well, so another task to the list. Also, i wanted to have my guest toss rose petals or something when we walk down the aisle after the ceremony, so need to figure out if i will have rose petals and if i need to buy those cone thingies to hold the petals or if i can make them as i have seen them and they are pricey since i will need about 70 for our guests. So much to do and so little time! Also need to finalize the table seating, music for the DJ, write my vows, send out the teaser gifts to our guests on October 1st. Oh my, i have more than i thought to do. the list is just growing!  =)

But it is so much fun, i can't wait and i can say that with all that i have done, i can't complain and i have not yet stressed out too much! =)

Hi Brides!

I have a question regarding a beach ceremony decor.  I am getting married on the beach and I was wondering if any of you had pictures of the basic set up is.  I'm getting the "Paradise Package" so having the ceremony on the beach is $300 extra.  I was just curious to see how it was decorated and if I should bring my own tulle or flowers etc...

I also saw that they charge $500 to have flowers for the beach canopy....does anybody have pictures and is it worth the extra $$ ?

Thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
