Thanks Mel! cheesy.gif I loved reading through all the posts even though it took me like a week and a half to do it!! I admit I was late for work a few times because I was so addicted. How is it going with your planning?

Amber - All our planning is going great since we are having a reception in my home town all of that is already planned and set.  It's just the actual wedding that we are trying to make sure everything is set and ready to go.  The bad thing is we have a confirmation number and everything but Dreams has not taken the money yet for the deposit, which is weird.  So it is aggervating when we can't get a hold of anyone at the resort. But we are super excited and ready for a vacation.  I also need to stop buying stuff for the goodie bags, I keep buying and finding cute stuff cheesy.gif

How is your planning going?  Any walls you have run into?

Hi! I am not sure if this helps, but if you go back through this thread, I am pretty sure other brides have said that the deposit doesn't get taken off for a long time. Someone even said that it didn't until almost right before they left for the wedding.

I am not sure now who said it or how far back in the thread it was, but it does seem like a common concern. Hope it helps ease your aggravation to know you are not the only one with that same issue!

Hey everyone. I was the photographer at a wedding at Dreams Punta Cana in 2009, and I had a wonderful time. There were about 30 family members there, and the food, decor, weather ... everything was great. We really didn't have many issues.

I can get into specifics if anyone would like me to chat about it. AND, the pictures are here: http://pictage.com/660689 or some are on our site, http://www.jpgphotography.com. We came down for three days, did Rehearsal coverage, full day coverage on the wedding, and a Day-After Trash the Dress.

BUT, one piece of advice for all brides is asking how many weddings this resort is having on any given day or weekend. On this one Saturday, alone, my couple was one of four brides. We had a couple issues getting the on-site coordinator when we needed her, but I'm not sure if she's still there. Also, we had to maneuver around the other couples a little bit. But I shoot so un-traditional, that it wasn't too big of a deal. But I know that is a big deal for most other couples. Especially if there is a key location you want to do a portrait, like that big Gazebo-like structure in the middle. Make sure another couple isn't using it for their ceremony when you think you're going to want/need it.

Thanks, and good luck everyone!

Best,

Joe G

Hi Mel! When are you guys getting married? We are planning a reception here at home too, something casual, but no idea where it will be. Everyone is offering to use their homes, my dad suggested going to a restaurant, and then my FI Ryan was thinking of having it at our future new home (and it would kind of be like a housewarming too). I guess we will figure it out as it gets closer. I get frustrated with the WC too, I can never get a response as quickly as I would like, and then they don't even answer some of the questions that you ask! They haven't taken my deposit yet either. I have heard (as you probably read already also) that they don't take the deposits for a long time. I think its really just in case you cancel- they haven't taken mine yet either. Who is your WC? I have Carolina. I haven't done too much yet with the planning! I will have Dreams supply my centerpieces for me, but I still have yet to decide on everything else! :) I hope you had a great weekend! cheer2.gif

Peach- I had read that from other posts but I was kind of hoping they were past that whole taking so long to take your money from you msnwink.gif.  But it will be fine.

Amber-  We are getting married Sept. 27th at 4pm.  And then having our reception October 29th.  Maybe a little overboard on the reception but I wanted everyone to have a good time since we didn't invite a whole lot for the wedding.  I really like the idea of having your reception in your new house, I think that would be cool.  it would be a great way to introduce everyone to yall's new life.  I definently agree with how difficult it is to get in contact with them over there but I do understand how busy it must be for them.  Yessica, is our WC.  You know I was thinking about bringing center pieces since so many people on here had but I just don't want to pack more stuff.  I think we will settle for what they have at Dreams but just bring our own chair saches.

I am still trying to decide if we should get a recording of the ceremony.

I just purchased our Sand jar any idea the best place to get sand, we need purple and orange.

Also I am loving the idea of buying the portable beer pong float, any ideas for the best place to purchase one as well as custom made ping pong balls? The only thing is we only need like 50 ping pong balls.  We found this one that we liked.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
