Reception can be however long you want it, however, it has to end by 11pm. So I will be starting my reception at 7 and going until 11 (so 4 hours).

Hey Morgan,

I'll be taking my dress in a garment bag, but it will be stuffed and in a cardboard protection so it can't get squished. I will definitely be carrying on the plane with me. I will not be risking it getting lost or damaged. So I think your friend is right to recommend this.

The time we'd been given for the judge was 7pm and we wanted pictures before so we did the symbolic ceremony at 5 which gave us just enough time to get all our pictures done.  I think it should be enough depending on what you want to do, we got a few shots of our entire group so it took a few minutes just to find everyone and get them to pay attention.  Plus when we were doing out beach pictures it started raining so we had to wait it out for a little.  It was gettting dark by the end but we got all the pictures we wanted.

While we were doing our wedding party pictures we had my brother in law (a photographer) take pictures of all the couples so we could give them as gifts later (since everyone was looking so nice!)  Then the cocktail part started at 6, the judge came just before 7 so we went inside the bordeaux while everyone was still out on the terrace and had a little private legal ceremony.  Then 7-11 was dinner & dancing.

Morgan -- so weird!  Michael Weiler posted the following comment on FB just now:

"I have a reservation for tomorrow January 11 2011 !! The bride does not respond to e mails or Phone calls,There is no Room which is registered under the name of the Brite or the Groom in the Hotel and Wedding Cordinator know of nothing,,,,,!!! what should I do"

Soooo... I think it's safe to say that the vendors are going to show up -- he even contacted the WC of the resort ... I think they (the vendors) really go the extra mile for the brides.

We had our wedding (Dec 3rd) at 5pm (Catholic ceremony so longer than civil/symbolic).  We took pictures on the beach for 30-40 minutes after the wedding.  The cocktail hour was 6-7 and reception was 7-11.

Hope that helps.

Also -- the flight attendants were very nice about letting me use their storage closet for my dress.  I just said, "Hey, is there somewhere I can hang my wedding dress" and they were all very polite.  I just carried my dress in the bag it came in when I purchased it.

Good luck!

Summa:

Yes, the reception is only 3 hours but we paid the $10 per person for the additional hour.  We had 13 toasts (yes, I know but 90% of them were under 90 seconds -- just one quick story) so we are glad we had more time to dance and party on the Himitsu Terrace which was beautiful!!

I hope the pics help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
