Hi Jackie,

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your engagement!!!!

Regarding your question, I can tell you that we choose the gazebo because we are having a catholic ceremony that cannot be perform on the beach due to the church regulations in Dominican Republic. That's the only reason... I'm sure the rest of the girls will let you know as well soon why they choose the gazebo or the beach.

Welcome once again!

Hi Jackie!!

We originally were set on the beach, but after I realized how many "unwanted" guests I'd be having, we opted for the more private gazebo. Once we made that decision, I felt like everyone who I was working with was happier with it! Our photograhper shot a DW down there before and said the gazebo was MUCH nicer, and even our WC said she prefers the gazebo over the beach. If those aren't two opinions I'd trust, I don't know who else I'd have to ask!

We're having the fire dancers and a "dessert hour" instead of a cocktail hour on the beach after our dinner...so we'll still get to feel the sand between our toes, just not when it's so freakin' hot! LOL...

Good luck with your decision, and welcome!!!

Hey ladies just thought Id clear something up with u guys. If you go with the Ultimate wedding package (& maybe the others) the beach ceremony is included, its not the extra $300. I just got this cleared up with Deyanira because I was told on here that it was extra but I think thats just for the free package or whatever! So PHEW! no extra costs for me!

I've always dreamed of having my wedding on the beach so im going with the beach wedding ceremony because Ive heard from other brides that they loved it! And I've also seen pictures of the ceremony at 2 different locations on the beach so Im wondering if we are allowed to choose where its at?? Ill email deyanira to ask and get back to u ladies!

I thought the one of the points of a destination wedding was to walk barefoot in the sand! Any advice is appreciated. My WC is Carolina any reviews on her would be great too!
OH Jackie, I forgot to mention that Carolina is also my wedding coordinator.. She had a baby at the end of March, so I'm not sure if she is back to work already... have you hear from her latelyhuh.gif

Im my experience researching different resorts in PC-most hotels charge extra for the open bar even though they are all inclusive.

Just thought I would add this because it made me laugh - Apparently my fiance was talking to one of his closest friends from college about our wedding plans and mentioned that we narrowed it down to one of two Dreams resorts in Punta Cana. So apparently his friend was drinking at an airport bar yesterday (at noon!!) and met a guy coming back from Punta Cana. Apparently Jeremy's friend remembered that I was interested in the Dreams resort and started asking the guy about it for us. Ironically, that's where this guy was coming back from and had nothing but good things to say about it. It just made me laugh because Jeremy's friend is a complete frat guy (hence the drinking at noon on a Friday) and here he is texting us to ask us if we have any questions for this random stranger. Very cute and the upside is that now his friend is even more excited for the wedding :)

jennifer, so exciting you have guests booking already!!

jackie, i have to tell you that when J and i decided to have a destination wedding, it was because we wanted to get married on the beach. in our minds, there was no question, that's where we were doing it. as soon as we got there we changed our minds. i can't explain it exactly, but the beach definitely isn't bad. there was just something really cool and intimate about the gazebo that we liked. it didn't take away from the DW experience at all since you're surrounded by palm trees, etc. and just so everyone knows, you'll have other resort guests watching the ceremony no matter where you have it!

i'm just going to keep being the broken record and say that while it's great to have an idea of where you want to have the ceremony in your head, keep an open mind because your idea may very well change when you get down there and it really doesn't matter if it does!! nothing is set in stone until the last second!

also.. we didn't have our reception at dreams, but i know that they do NOT charge extra for the open bar at the reception. i clarified that in one of my emails to deyanira way back at the beginning of my planning.

Hi Jackie,
I was like you in wanting to get married on the beach, but it was sooo windy almost the whole week our WC said everyone would have sand constantly blowing in their faces, so after much contemplating, we decided to go with the gazebo. It was really nice, but I still wish we had done it on the beach.. that's part of the whole reason for going down south right?? GOod luck!!
Ps, the gazebo is nice too, don't get me wrong!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
