Elena - I am pretty sure that when I was in Punta Cana last year, my Mom said every single day it showed rain showers while we were there... and it only rained for about an hour one day! Don't worry about that too much

Erin - I actually had a couple of more people book (yay!) and then another couple of dropouts... Flori basically said it didn't really matter, so I'm not worried! I am pretty sure our numbers will be at about 19 ish... so thats close enough for me I am so excited for your planning thread... and like you said, we have probably seen a lot of it, but it is always cool to see it all together in one place! I liked your pre-travel the best, because it covered so many bases it was hard to have ANY questions! I did that all in one evening/night... did you just staple it together? And when did you start your planning thread?

oh and Elena - since we have fish bowl style vases, we are wrapping them in bubble wrap and my mom, my dad and my aunt are carrying them in their carry on

yayyy! so glad that you are getting to do that still! if there's anything you want to see or know about for la barcaza, let me know and i'll make it happen!

i actually had my travel booklet printed and bound by a local company. i don't see why you couldn't just staple, or hole punch and put a ribbon through it if you feel crafty?

i started my planning thread a while ago, but all i did was write down each of the indi. things/areas i wanted to cover (rings, my dress, BM dress, centerpieces, etc.). i have gradually been adding descriptions and the IMG codes for the pictures.. honestly i think that has been the most time consuming part since you have to go through and find the right picture!

AHR invites (now with stamps!) are out the door!! after this weekend my to do list will only have 5 things left, and 2 of them are packing ourselves and packing up stuff for our dogs at the kennel! i'm getting my e-ring cleaned this weekend and i can't wait to see how shiny it looks!!

so back to Barcaza brides.... we are doing a day excursion with them and have been in contact with flori. Since we are just booking now, and dont really have time for the wire transfer she is going to meet us at dpc to give her payment in either travelers check, money order or DR money. Was this your experience / process as well. It sounds kind of fishy and we dont want to get ripped off because we would have no recourse but maybe thats just how its done. and i'm just worrying about everything! thanks!

 

Erin - we leave sunday the 25th! what time do you get in?

elena, there is nothing to fear with flori! she's meeting us at the resort the day before the wedding so we can pay her the remainder (we're doing travellers' checks). i think this is a pretty common occurance actually. i've never heard of anyone having problems with it!

 

our plane lands on the 24th at 6:30, so we won't get to the resort until later that evening. do you leave early the 25th?

I am definitely going to get my welcome books bound, since they are quite thick... so for the pre-travel I might just do the ribbon or something hehe!

 

Elena, there is nothing to worry about! As weird as it may SEEM, they are reputable and didn't run away with our money... haha! ACTUALLY, it cost us more in the long run to send a wire transfer, since that alone costs money...

 

Erin, what are the payment mehtods for the rest? Do the travelers checks cost extra in the sense that they come with fees? As you know, we've all heard that it is not recommended for down there...?

i know that travellers' checks aren't recommended for the resort because there are fees for that, but i don't think there are associated fees when you pay a company like that. at least flori didn't say anything like that, so if they are i will certainly throw a fit. we're doing travellers' checks for a portion and then we'll pay cash for the remainder since we still have to finalize it with her... our guest count has fluctuated some in the past couple weeks!

yeah, well my MOH decided a month out she was going to bring a date and then we weren't sure if J's daughter was going to be coming or not. it won't make that big of a difference in the cost, thankfully.

Oh ok, that's good! We had some drop outs, then some adds, and I told anyone that added over the 20 person threshold that they would have to pay for their own boat cruise (since it is people I don;t even know, friends of guests).
