Tara - the junior member status is at 150, you get your member button at 300 I believe, and senior button at 1,000. I have no idea what it is for elite member, I guess I will see when I get there LOL!

I haven't decided what to do about the ceremony music yet, we go back and forth between iPod and Caribbean Trio. Who knows, I will have to wait and see!

Toya, you could do really low key centrepieces if you wanted, it just takes a little bit of thinking and also the realization about how low key you want your reception. Honestly, if my reception were at the resort I would have done something a little more elaborate, but since our reception is on a boat, it will be beautiful all around us! I didn't want to lug big complicated centrepieces around for nothing... lol AND, I had to consider that flameless candles were necessary (real ones would blow out on a boat!)

Yeh I wish I didn't have to carry things like centerpieces down with me, thats the only thing I'm not looking forward to packing ceneterpeices, everything else will be ok to pack, plus I want alot of lighting at my reception so I have to figure out what I want to do and bring urghhhhhh !!!!!!!!

Hi Jenise, Thank you for the photos. I didn't "love" any of them. I think I might try to change my wedding bouquet for a centerpiece (to use somewhere -ceremony table or dinner table) and get real touch flowers for my bouquet....

Toya, I know that you are using the Hitmatsu terrace for your dinner. I just saw this picture only and you could have paper lanterns on the side (with the columns are at) and then put all small paper lanterns on the floor around the perimeter of the terrace (kind of what the pic below shows). I don't know, just some ideas... :-) As you can imagine, all I do at work is try to come up with ideas for my Brides and Grooms so I spend a lot of my time researching...

I've been emailing Carolina these past few days as she is having her baby (girl!) on March. The rehearsal dinner price is up now to $15 ppl, and can be done in any of the terraces. I think we will just set up a dinner in one of the restaurants (not sure I want to spend that money) I think I would rather use the money for something else.

Hi Everyone!!! Please excuse the long post, but I feel like I need to get this out...

I read through three pages of posts and now I'm totally freaked out and scared...LOL.

My wedding is May 24, 2010 at Dreams Punta Cana. I submitted the forms for my deposit but was told by the WC that they are slow to take the money (ever heard of someone NOT wanting to take money?!) and that was the middle of January. She reassured me that the date and time are ours. It will be a "symbolic" ceremony as we had to have a rush wedding due to family illness. (Which was AMAZING and hysterical and touching and would do it all again in a heartbeat exactly as it was)...so yes, we're already technically married.

I have been reading through the posts and see that a lot of you are bringing decorations and centerpieces and things like that? I didn't even THINK about that sort of stuff. When my friend got married at Secrets Capri, all she did was show up with her dress and everything was decorated and taken care of by the WC. I was hoping that's how Dreams would be!! Am I wrong? How do you get all of your stuff there? Ship it? Check-in luggage? Is anyone else just winging this like me?

Here's another question...what are you wearing? I don't want to to do a traditional sheath dress as most places try to put you in when you mention "destination wedding", so I found this one: Mori Lee bridal collection of wedding dresses 2010 Bridals Style 2521 Organza and Satin With Beading which I'm in LOVE with but can't seem to find in any shop to try on...Any NJ/NY/PA brides that have found a fabulous place to shop? Any take the plunge to order online?

I have a lot more posts to read and catch up on, so I apologize if I have asked questions that have already been answered.

I'm looking forward to learning from all of you!

Christine

Hi Christine,

no need to apologize for the long post! that's what we are here for!

They haven't taken our deposit out yet either (like many of the other brides here!) I asked my WC for an invoice showing the deposit and she said accounting is taking long charging deposits but the daet and time is confirmed for us (including the priest as we are having a catholic ceremony). So I wouldn't worry about this is I was you... I know I'm not that worry as I have the confirmation letter and that's good enough....

Regarding the decorations, I didn't think at alllllll if anything was includeddd!!!!! I guess I got so excited about decorating, centerpieces and things like that so I simply started thinking what to bring.... Any other brides here know if anything is included or not....

I live in Cranford, NJ and I found a great store (saw dresses online) but I don't have the website here (I'm at work) I will post it this evening once I get home...

Good luck with your planinng and DON'T WORRY, everything will work perfect!!!

christine.. don't worry! the beauty of a DW is you can do as little or as much as you want! all personal preference!!

i can tell you that as far as decorations go for the ceremony, if you're married on the beach you can have an arch or a huppah (which is extra) and you'd be all set there. the gazebo i believe you pay extra to have it decorated, or leave it alone and it's still just as beautiful.

for your reception, it will look just how you want it to. if you want extra decorations you will probably have to pay for those, but there is absolutely nothing that says you need to bring things with you. the surroundings are beautiful enough on their own to not need anything else.

for your dress, i'd probably order that as soon as possible. to get it in time you're going to need to get one off the rack or buy online since it will take too long at this point to order straight from the designer. the good thing is, those are usually the less expensive ways!! there are a lot of girls who order online.. just get measured, order it and then find a good seamstress who can alter it however it needs to be! and, as usual, anything goes for a dress at a DW. i've seen pictures of everything from short, real informal dresses, to long, cathedral-length trains! it's your wedding, it's up to you!

good luck and please let us know if you have any questions... many of us have been researching for a while and we'd be glad to help!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
