For those who are NOT having a bridal party.....

Recommended Posts

is anyone still throwing you a shower or a bachorlorette party? I'm having a DW in Jamaica and i've decided to not have a bridal party. I had to throw and pay for my own shower. I'm just wondering what's gonna happen for the bachorlorette party.......i kinda wanna have one but unfortunately, I don't think any of my "so-called" friends have given me or my wedding a second thought!!

Here's the thing: I'm an only child. Both of my parents are from Jamaica and most of my family is spread out in Miami, NY, and JA. Yep, I had to throw my own wedding shower....how pathetic is that!!! No one said anything to me, they came LATE and then ate and left (no one even stayed to help me clean up).

I really want a bacholorette party, but I don't want to have to ASK anyone to throw it for me.

This is a tough spot to be in but I say if you were good enough to throw your own shower then just bite the bullet & organize your own bach party! From planning this wedding I've learned that if we wait for people/our so called good friends, to do things for us, they'll never get done. I know you don't want to have to ask anyone to do it for you so maybe this is the best option. Also, at least if you throw it, you'll wind up doing what you want to do as opposed to going someplace that you wouldn't have really liked.
Why not give it some more time & see what your friends do. Maybe they'll surprise you & get it together.

I agree... hopefully w/ time your friends will step up to the plate... but if they don't, and you want to have one then you should definitely go ahead and make sure you get to enjoy one :)

I am in a similar position. Most of my family and friends live out of my area and I don't have anyone I can really rely on to throw me a shower or bachelorette party. I may end up just planning them myself, but I can't decide if that's just going to make me feel like a loser. I have found that some people just aren't as excited about me getting married as I am. Wouldn't it be nice if they were?

= ( I'm sorry to hear you are in a pickle regarding this. Would it be worth it for you to travel to where a close friend or family member lives? Might be fun to go away for a weekend, blow off some steam, and party with someone close. I don't see anything wrong with throwing yourself a bach party. But IMHO I'm not sure if I would want to celebrate with people who couldn't be bothered to step up for me.

I'm in the same boat - no one lives close by. People have talked about a shower, but I will be traveling to the west coast.

Its difficult, too, because I don't want to invite anyone to the shower that won't be going to the wedding so that gets me a headcount of, what, 7?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
