How much is too much? A registery Q

Recommended Posts

I'm off tonight to go and register - I wasn't planning on it, we know FI will be in town and with the night off - so we better get it done!

The advice I've been given is to get lots of linens (bedding & bath). But how many sets should you get? and how many are too many to put on a registery? We have 1 king size bed and 2 spare queens.

I would like to get a set per bed, and had even hoped to get 2 for our king - but is that too many?

heck no, I would register for two sets for you and one set for each of your spare rooms.

Register for everything you see you want because in the end you get a % off if you want to buy something on your own and trust me you will get lots of gift cards and with that % off at the end you can get a lot of stuff, but you can only get the % off if its on your registry.

Not sure where you're registered, but Macy's is nice enough to give a registry checklist. Whenever I go visit my registry I get this message:

GIONNE and MICHAEL, we recommend 200 gifts for 120 guests, and currently you have 63 registry items. Does your registry offer choices for every budget? Our recommendations ensure your guests have a selection in each price range.

And then proceeds to give recommendations of what to register for, which price ranges to cover, and items to select. It's been super helpful to me, since I don't know JACK about registering! As you can see, I still have a lot of work to do on my registry!

We just registered last weekend, but we did everything on-line. Macy's registry was super, super easy! And I agree about putting what you want on your registry - since it also stays up after you get married, it will serve as a great place for future gift ideas from your family for those items that weren't purchased for your wedding!

I felt like I had way too much stuff on mine, but I read somewhere to register for twice the amount of people you invite (can't remember where I read thathuh.gif). I'm not expecting gifts at the wedding, so I registered based on the # of people my BMs are inviting to the shower.

Also, I keep thinking that I should put more stuff on it because it's true that most places offer a completion discount for whatever wasn't bought.

I have 3 registries and I just put anything my little heart desires on it. That doesn't mean I expect to receive everything, but these are all gerat suggestions for your guests to buy for you. I rarely buy off a registry, cuz i think they are boring, so I tried to be creative and asked for randomt hings that I think people would like to purchase fo rme. And of course, it doesn't hurt when you can complete your registry for a discount.

I would totally put 2 sets for your king bed and at least 1 set for each of your spare queen beds.. in fact, put everything and anything you want on there!

I'll be doing that even though I've told people we aren't expecting/wanting gifts.. for sure there will be family that isn't coming that will want to buy us "something"

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
