I'm having a similar issue. Because I am a caterer and event planner, I have a lot of business contacts that need to be formally informed of our wedding, but I'm not inviting them to our ceremony.

We'll send announcements after the wedding that we were married. There is a great post somewhere about wording--use the advance search or browse through the invite sub-forum.

Unless you are hosting an At Home Reception, I would not send out an announcement for the wedding, just wait until you have pictures and send the photo announcement.

You can do it very similar to a regular invitations ... just place the "your presence is requested" line in a difference spot.

We used the Boarding Pass invitations and actually invited everyone to both. We have about 40 people coming.

But for the 'late adds' to out guest list (newer friends or never got correct address, etc) ... we are sending the same invitation, but w/o the travel agent/booking info -- since the deadline is passed anyway to book through our group rates.

We had the same problem. Our goal was to invite only those that we wanted there, while still announcing it to everyone else. We didn't just want announce it, but we also wanted them to know there would be something for them too - a way they could celebrate with us. So... rather then sending those people an invite to the wedding in Mexico, we sent a STD type annoucement to them regarding our reception back home in Minnesota. It said something like "Kelly and Ben will be married on Jan. 11th at a small, beach side ceremony in playa del carmen, Mexico. They look forward to celebrating with you when they return. Save the Date for the Minnesota Reception - May 17th.... blah blah blah. Hope that helps :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
