BM attire opinions needed

Recommended Posts

I swore that I posted a thread about this a while ago, but I did a search for every thread created by me and couldn't come up with it, so here goes...

I have 3 BM's coming to Jamaica with me (my sis, his sis and my friend), but I also have 4 very good friends that can't come to Jamaica due to various reasons but were originally considered part of the wedding party. These girls are still partaking in all the regular wedding party stuff, planning the bach. party/shower. I am purchasing them all gifts for being a part of my wedding. But my dilema is regarding my AHR. It is going to be a fairly formal affair, meaning we are hiring a photog and will be doing photos before and then during the reception. My BM's have a dress that I will post below and the GM's are more then likely going to be wearing blue shirts. Should I tell the 4 other BM's to wear a specific color dress or jsut let them have free reign? I want them to look like they belong in the pictures when the photog is taking them, but I don't know how to make that happen.... Opinions please!!

Darn, photobucket is down, can't post the Bm dress pics. They are cream with pink and orange flowers....

What about having them wear simple black dresses? Or brown? Kind of like how ushers and usherettes where black. It signifies they are part of the wedding and will have a uniformed look. Plus maybe get them a corsage or something??

I think having them in a different dress but with a unified look is a good idea. I remember your BM dresses too. They are gorgeous. I think it would be easy to tell all the girls to find a cute brown dress. Orange or pink are kinda hard because there are so many variations of the shades.

Parasols aren't too much money. If you would like everyone to have them for pics, why not? If they are honorary BMs then let them show off to everyone that they are someone special to you.

I agree ... having them in similar dresses, yet different from your BM dresses would be nice. Especially if you can find something fairly reasonable that they can wear again!!! (That's ALWAYS appreciated!!!). It doesn't even necessarily need to be the same dress --- maybe just the same color.

The parasols would be nice if you're planning to have pics at your AHR with them ...

I love your BMs dresses. Were they expensive? If not, could the honorary BMs buy them? If not, I'd say pick out an orange or pink dress that they can all wear to complement the other dresses.

If you want to use the parasols for pics, I think you should buy some more.

Ok, fine, you guys just want me to spend every last dime I have!! ;-)

I think buying more parasols is a nice gesture as well, and I think I will do it.

For the dresses, the ones we have already are $180, but the smallest size left is a 6 and 2 of the girls are a 0. So I don't want to have them in the right dress and the other two the off girls out. I am thinking about just telling them to buy a dress in pink or orange and then the color scheme is right, but not matchy matchy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
