Hi all I am going throught DW as well and my TA is super nice but as much as I like nice i feel fustrated, i had a contract with a quote and a huge deposit down on the hotel. two weeks later i called the hotel myself and got a quote for $75 cheaper, took like a week and a half to get the new quote in. I changed venue its took 2 weeks to do that and another to week or so to get the date and time confirmed, its HONESTLY the waiting game and my guest keep calling me well you changed the venue will she transfer our stuff i write her and its like oh yeah today i will, and yet another day passes and nothing. we are telling our guest to book flights through orbitz at this rate cause I dont know she can handle the work load with what ever else she has going on.

Now she gave this some feature for booking online the rooms and not having ppl wait for her to get back to them, I was thrilled I set it up like she told me too (she didn't know how to use the website) and guess what my friends do it and errors...why advertise stuff that doesn't work.

I like her i really do but I wish for more action and less me sending emails with 3 or so bullets like can this be done will this be done.

and thoughts anyone?

Try changing who your TA is. That hasn't been my experience at all.

We changed the venue to a whole different country- and the only hold up was us. We had confirmation within one business day (over a weekend though) after we paid. We have no issues with not getting the lowest rate, we have had our resorts price matched. Yes, there was a struggle for that, but no company out there wants to give away something for nothing. However, getting the price match was not difficult, it was done in about a day or so.

These ladies work with travel vendors, and it could also be that the vendor your TA is going through is slow. Mine is travel impressions, owned by American Express. They're fairly speedy.....

We are usind DW and our TA used Travel Impressions and this experience has been a hot mess let me tell you. SLLLLLOWWW slow slow. I have not enjoyed my experience with her and it's to late to change. The DW manager emailed me to ask about my experience because others were aparently having problems as well. I had addressed several issues but the only one the manager commented on was the problem everyone else was having...communication. I wanted to say well what about all of this other stuff but at this point I give up and I don't want to deal anymore now that we are booked. I'm waiting for our final upgrade and it's now been a month and they gave us the wrong upgrade. UGggghh.

I am using DW.com, and so far no issues with my TA. Prior to signing the contract I, to ensure I was getting the best rate, I too looked at several different travel sites for quotes on the rooms at the Resort I choose. So far the group rates I am getting are cheaper than any other agency I looked at. My TA has been very responsive to all my questions( and I ask a lot of questions). She has also responded with in 24 hours when my guest have emailed or called her for quotes.

So I guess it does depend on the TA you get. Now that they have the new feature on the website for your guest to book travel there, that is great.

Knock on wood, hopefully I won't run into any issues once my guest start booking their travel.

First off congrats cause your wedding is around the corner.
today my TA has been emailing me back but i had tons of question and when we changed venue and all the waiting i'm calling and emailing her and then its a day later i was at my summer house for the day or i took the day off LIKE OK CAN YOU HAVE AN OUT OFFICE REPLY
or the TA has no voice to talk on the phone, again nice and has been getting back to me today but i wonder whats the deal. I matched the price not with the TA but i called the hotel myself and said i'm getting married there i need 20 rooms what are your prices and they sent me a quote with over a $75 difference and then I sent this to her and its all about the freaking groups department and they are super slow.

Boston bride can you email me who your workign with and i'll send you my persons name i wonder if its the same one

call the hotel and see what the price they are offering is for groups cause mine was way off and then when i changed venue i waited for over a week for the "groups dept" to tell if the new hotel had the same price i called that hotel myself did the same thing got the same quote and sent it to her.. I got all this in a day but had to wait over a week for the groups dept. only to find out the group dept lady was in mexico (like is this a one woman show)

  • 3 weeks later...

I originally signed up for this company thinking I would use it. I paid the $50 and everything. I wouldn't do it. I ended up going with a local TA because they got me much better rates and were able to pull flight times much earlier than the TA at DW was able to. My TA here was available whenever I called and I always had to leave messages for the DW lady.

I'm sure they do a fine job, but I think your local lady could do just as good a job.

Same here...I signed up, paid the $50 deposit and ended up getting a MUCH, MUCH better deal on my own with a ton of extra perks and freebies thrown in that destination weddings wasn't able to get me.

Destinationwedding charged me twice as much for half the stuff. I was able to get a hotel rate on my own for half the price and in addition I also got a free welcome reception with open bar for ALL guests, upgrade to a suite, large discounts on the spa, a couple of FREE ROOMS for guests and a bunch of other freebies and extras that destinationwedding didn't include in their quote.

They were also not very responsive. Another thing that bothered me was that they didn't take direction... I told them I wanted a hotel in a certain area & price range and they sent me something completely different.

It wasn't worth the hassle. I preferred to lose the $50 deposit than deal with them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
