Hi Ladies!

Just started planning and gosh I really want to get a location sorted out. So many to choose from. Right now the FI and I have narrowed things down to Barbados or St. Lucia as Islands. Now we need a resort. Has anyone used Wedding Destinations and Planning | Destination Weddings .com to plan their wedding and travel? Here's what we are looking for

Guest count ~70

Location: tropical garden location (close to the beach)

Resort: Something on the smaller side so we can spend QT with our guests in a somewhat intimate setting

I've been looking at some of the larger resorts and those with 200-400+ rooms would make me feel like out wedding guests could get lost. Also, looking for something small enough so people leave the resort and explore the island.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Sorry I haven't had experience with them, however I did want to mention that we have 3 travel agents on the forum, they are all amazing and can really help in your planning process. Their is a little flash ad at the top of the page, just click that and one of them will get back with you.

Hey! I am actually using them right now, and my TA is great. She has been very helpuful, and always responds right away. I know some other ppl said that when they use them, their prices have been a little higher. IF this happens, just mention that you found a better price and they will price match it for you! And you can also do payment plans with them intrust free which is great!

Barbados is so pretty! One of my fav. places :)

Not to beat a dead horse but I feel like I shoudl re-inerate what the girls before me have been saying about DW.com - mostly because I am to the point where I have no choice but to keep moving forward with them and I wish I had known a long time ago how crazy it was going to be. I am also on my third agent. The first was a flake and got nothing that I was telling her, the second one was mean and snooty and then was either fired or quit - then I got my third one and she is MUCH better - but when you are going from awful to slightly better than awful it' snot saying much. DEFINITELY consider other options than DW.com - it's not worth the savings etc that you might think you are getting. The majority of complaints I have had so far from my guests have been about the women at DW.

Barbados sounds great! I took a tour of the Sugar Cane Club last Aug. Very intimate setting, beautiful garden setting. I also saw a wedding at the Amarillis Beach Resort. It was near the pool area on a small bridge. The reception was in a small banquet room.

The hotel is made up of several low buildings-maybe 3-4 stories, didn't feel crowded eventhough the resort was almost full.

I am using them too and aside from the fact that my TA lives in NJ and I live in CA and our hours aren't matched up, they're fine. They respond pretty quickly and give me all the info I need so I'm happy. I also have nothing to compare them to since I've never worked with a TA before in my life.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
