I love this website- I've seen it before. EVERYONE needs to sign this petition and help raise awareness about this issue. It's amazing what goes on in other countries and how sheltered we are.

 

I work with a girl that is from Rwanda and survived the Hutu/Tutsi genocide in 1994. Her stories are heartbreaking- she was in hiding in her home, covering her little sister's mouth with her hand to keep her from screaming while her brother & parents were killed downstairs. She is such a strong girl and it breaks my heart to think of other people like her going through such unthinkable tragedy.

 

The people of these countries need to know they are not forgotten.

Genocide is such an unthinkable act and it amazes me that humans are capable of such horrendous things. Even a signature can make a difference and hopefully help save many innocent lives.

A friend, and former professor from college, is from Sudan. He is one of many on a list of people that are to be shot on sight if they are caught in Sudan again. Basically this is because he left Sudan for Egypt to go to college, and eventually UCLA where he got his Ph.D in African Studies and teaches/writes against genocide.

 

In 2000 he wanted to visit his family, and he had to get the U.N. involved but and they would only fly him into Kenya. From there he walked for 4 days to reach his village (and back to Kenya), all the while in danger of death. It was very serious but he made it in and out. Everyone isn't that lucky

Stories like that make me realize how good we have it here no matter how bad of a day/week/month we think we are having.

Your friend and all those over there in the turmoil are in my prayers.

Something has to give with that situation over there. I can't help but to think that if it was an area that had resources, money, oil or anything else that the rest of the greedy world governments wanted none of this would be allowed to continue. It's just sad.
